Jesus's crucifixion not politically motivated, but to stop a powerful sorcerer/necromancer?

yeah necromancer was cursed to spend eternity in Diablo II and the Lord of destruction ecpansion. The curse does not have too much to do with being trapped in a video game but more of being a really crappy class character that is useless after level 60.

Interesting topic Nohup.

After the death of John the Baptist many believed Jesus had somehow "possessed" his spirit and had him as a "demon/daemon" which enabled Jesus to do such wonder working. Apparently it smacked of John. Even Herod believed this. An example of a certain "magical thinking" prevalent in that time period.

Some thought it might be Beelzebub, but quite a few also thought it was because of a magical practice that enabled one to harness the power of a deceased person and use it...enslave it really to do their bidding.

This idea is old, dark magic no doubt.

Interesting also that the spell or ritual was thought by magicians to not only bring worldly success, but that they would also be worshipped as a god. But it would only work if the deceased had been murdered and the magician actually owned a part of their body...

So, uh, whatever did happen to the head of John the Baptist?
