I'm going out on a limb a little bit, and am risking myself of possibly being labeled a bigot. This is not the case, but I am posing a situation of
which may be in the near future for the US. I do not have any supporting evidence for this situation, this is just going on a gut feeling.
The Situation:
The current presidential candidates, any and all of them, have a high risk of assasination by various groups based on race/religious/political
standing. If this were to happen, and was at the hand of a person of another race, creed, color, or political standing than the candidate, there
would be a potential for race/religious/political rioting much like the LA riots, but country wide.
Massive looting, fires, hate crimes, and possibly vigilantism could happen in areas of high racially/religiously/politcally mixed populations. Say
this has happened and martial law has not yet been declared, and no one can speculate how long the rioting will last.
My question that I pose to my fellow members here on the forums, is what to do? Luckily, I am on the far outskirts of suburbia surrounding a large
metropolitan area, under most arms of the reasons for the riots, I would be far enough away from the heavily populated areas to be affected.
Those members in the urban areas, what do you do if you are a member of the non-rioting faction? Bug out? In? Join the resistance? And why?
And as always please keep the thread on topic.

Before anyone gets upset, no...its not the entire race/religion/polical side that is rioting, just a large enough percentile that
urbanites/suburbanites in the affected areas are at significant risk 24/7.

I agree all of the above is possible and in my opinion very likely. Things are at or near the breaking point and who knows what will happen. If it
does break out in a near by city i would lay low, why rush in and get killed by a stray bullet right off the bat, what would that accomplish?
especially if you have family. just remember if its close by it could run over to your area and stray looters looking for free supplies. In my view
stay home and stand fast,you should be prepared with supplies for the onslaught .

I'd do something daft, like stowaway on board a ship, were not only do i stand a better chance of avoiding the massive amounts of civil disobediance,
but am a natural fighter in an enclosed area.
Note; I said i'd stowaway on board a ship, which would mean that if i wasn't instantly thrown overboard, the crew would serve as an advance combat
party if anyone tried to hijack the ship for supplies (food, fuel, cargo, w/e) and i'd have plenty of time to evaluate my options.
I could even take the opportunity to steal one of the enclosed lifeboats, haul plenty of food, water, fuel and cigs on board and generally have a good
time for a few weeks before i put back on land.
IF the case was that i would not be able to reach a ship (nearest Dockyard is right in the middle of the city), i would strongly consider heading over
to the off-coast lighthouse, so at least nature will provide me a natural barrier during the night.
Ultimately the choice i make is based off where i intend to be fighting from, because believe it or not; in this Situation, you WILL end up fighting
for your life.

Although possible, I see this as very unlikely. Country wide rioting is very rare, and tends to be focused at a corrupt regime in its death troughs,
were the average citizens are working tighter against military police, etc. If it came down to this, I doubt it would be extremely life threating,
although random acts of violence would obviously occur.

I hate to say it, but I would simply go to a high bluff looking over town, 30.06 in hand, and observe my situation.
If people began to fight, watch until fight subsides or one party loses.
If a firefight begins, choose a side and pick off the oppostion.
If looting and overall rioting occurs (which is most likely), simply move off towards the nearest wilderness. Forests of an acre or more really are a
lifeblood.
In any of these situations, my regard for human life other than mine and my loved ones is at a minimum.
