Either people are sheeple who follow every order, are oblivious, or they are having their fear and panic buttons pushed.

Only the 6800 or so "active" members (the number who have posted at least once in the last 15 days) on ATS are awake to the truth, along with the other people who don't post too often.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Do you guys actually listen to yourselves? You talk down about your communities and your fellow human beings like they are # and oblivious to everything - and then you say you are "awake"!

Give me a break. It's not awake, it's called arrogant, pompous, and ignorant. Yeah, you are awake, if awake means brainwashed from conspiracy propaganda sites. Keep repeating the same stuff over and over to each other - keep doing it day in and day out, keep reinforcing the skewed reality and pass it on to each other until you take it as the truth.

I thought we all learned that repeating the same thing over and over again turned it into the truth?

Lay off the Inforwars, the NWOreport, the ConspiracyArchive, the Prisonplanet, and probably more importantly discussion forums that reinforce these naive ideas and skewed paranoid view of the world around you - at least for a few weeks. Please. It only takes a few weeks to get brainwashed into it, and it only takes a few weeks to return to a normal functioning state.

I just read a post where the OP gets their conclusion of the reality of deep government secrets and aliens from shopping at wal-mart. This is beyond silly, but it doesn't surprise me considering most of the stuff I see posted on this site.

I'm beginning to think this site is something like an internet repository of the overly gullible minds that surf the paranoid delusions of cyberspace. This is just a place for people to keep repeating the same crap over and over (UFOs, Evil NWO, Evil Governments, Conspiracy) and over and over and over and over and over and over again until you believe it, and then you infect the other people that come on this site.

I came here because I thought it was funny at first, but now I'm starting to see that a lot of people here (not all) have some REAL problems. I mean, I think some of these people need REAL HELP from a psychologist or at least intervention from a friend (if they actually have any). I think you know who I am talking about. These people can post the most inane news stories - or respond to them - and it becomes the END OF THE WORLD!!! WTF??? Are these people serious? Am I the only one that sees this???

And then you all have this whole "Elite" thing going on. What the hell is that supposed to be? There has always been aristocrats and those in power, and there have always been those below them. ATS reminds me of a native village where all the people who live in the huts which encircle the chief's hut in the center start gossiping about how the chief is resonsible for the weather, the crops, the sick, and everything else. They are looking for a scapegoat, which appears to be exactly what the majority of people on this site are doing. It's the fault of the elite, the fault of the government, the fault of Rothschild and Rockefellers, the fault of Bush, the fault of cops, the fault of the military.

If you have the attitudes of a serf, that's why most of you are stuck at the bottom - vassals to all and lords to only your dogs. Knaves, the whole lot of you!

Complain away, and protest that you have the knowledge of the true workings of the world. In reality, you have what everyone knows, but you pretend it is a conspiracy - you pretend it is a secret that only you and a select community know about.

Everybody knows that governments, lobby groups, thinktanks, corporations, and those individuals and groups with large influence are the elements resposible for shaping the path of the future. Perhaps they can't indentify them, or name every single member, as if it matters. Likewise, most people are familiar with UFOs and government black projects. There was a recent poll saying that nearly 80% of Americans thought the government was too secretive - that's around 240 million people out of a little over 300! Oh, but sure, everyone is asleep and they are all sheeple.

It's no secret - SO WHY PRETEND IT IS? Why pretend everyone else is ASLEEP? Maybe it's the company you keep. You might want to have a look at that, because the company you keep greatly reflects yourself. If you spend all of your name on ATS and conspiracy sites, then you have a clue as to what you have to do.

Why play this strange childish and naive pretend game with each other?

You say pretend game, but look at the news in the breaking news forum. That alone should tell you that this is not a game of cards. If you are that fed up with this place, why bother posting here in the first place. Just walk away like an adult, and let us do what we do best, find the truth.

Well I'm in the mood to be blunt, so I will be.

No one forces you to read ATS, and no one forces you to post here.

Simple as that really.

What, you mean like how the Civil Assistance Plan gets turned into a North American Union Army? Or maybe how cops knocking at your door = socialism and police state? That forum is the main reason I come to ATS because it is a good collection of material, but the comments are just a joke full of paranoid delusional commentary.

There ya go people - straight from an ATS mod:

"Move along, nothing to see here."

You obviously don't want me to stick around to comment how ATS is a concentration center for the mentally unsound.

Not that I blame you - the mentall unsound are you prime audience, and you have a duty as an ATS mod and representative to keep those people feeding off the teat of mom ATS, don't you?

But then, why dwell on other peoples comment?

That is why there is a star system in place, to let people know that you agree with that comment. But on the flip side, I kind of wish there was a way to put a negative star on peoples comments kind of like on digg.com. A way to let people know, you don't agree with their content.

I have to comment on that:

www.abovetopsecret.com...

Moderators have opinions too. Time and time again, I see heated discussion where staff members are involved, and community members are presenting controversial or even confrontational positions. Sooner or later, the staff member will respond in-kind, and like clockwork, a complaint shows up through the suggestion form of "staff abuse". In about 90% of these situations, the only apparent issue is that a staff-member is "mixing it up" in a complex discussion like any other member would. The complaints always appear to simply take offense that a staff member would dare to have a strong opinion

What truth? How governments work? The name of every member of the CFR? The purpose of the Trilatteral comission? I've seen people "uncover" things that I learned about in a college textbook years ago. You've got people on ATS acting as if it some huge secret that Rockefeller is involved in politics, or that the Rothchilds had a hand in creating Israel. It's absurd.

It looks like the people who are learning "the truth" are in the most part endeavouring on some skewed self education operation that just isn't working out right because they are taking shortcuts through conspiracy valley.

Maybe you are learning that the secret government worships Satan, the world is controlled by Reptilians, or how every single tiny little measure of security that is implemented into society just screams of police state and NWO?

Do you mean the truth that is published on the internet, for christ's sake?

Maybe you mean the truth that is found out by scowering NASA images for shadows that look like faces and doors? :shk:

There is no truth on ATS, just wildly gullible people who will fall for just about anything.

Super lol. I agree to some of the things you say, but I am not one to knock another person on their beliefs.

But, as in truth, I mean things like 9/11, cop beatings, etc.

If we posted, 9/11 was an inside job on a myspace discussion board no one would take us seriously. That is why we collaborate here and make our viewpoints heard by people who share the same interests.

There are some great comments that try to bring some reality into the story and attempt to defuse the conspiracy wildfire, but they are few and far between.

I'd like to see a slider system where you can rate the person as being somewhere between having a "conspiracy view" or a "sane view". It would probably make a lot more people stick around the site who read the breaking news, space travel, science, and some of the other sections because they wouldn't be forced to read through - at least the beginning - of completely psychotic posts. I say that because it's nice to have a tiny bit of open minded conspiracy thrown in there, but not the crazy stuff. Know what I mean?

Yes I agree on some of the comments made are kind of out there. Just look at if I post I seen an alien in my backyard, see how many comments I get than if I posted U.S. Congressman caught red handed taking money for votes.

Just skim. It's no different than any other repository of whatever. There's a lot of useless information amongst the occasional gems. Gems can be identified by their low reply-counts -- folks like to comment/complain/bitch on simpler stuff, not the heavy ones.

You're obviously getting some satisfaction out of this rant. It's like a therapy session for you. What would you like to see happen? Would you like ATS to screen everybody who posts, or give them psychological evaluations ("healthy" being whatever YOU say is sane)? Would you like to ruin the fun for everybody?

For the most part, I agree with you. There are some people here who have some very serious issues to deal with. The kind of people here who believe everything they read make the reputation of the rest of us bad. A few rational men of reason exist here, but they don't write very often because nobody responds to them. I have considered to stop writing opinions here, too. Not many can cope and actually respond something.

I have tried and tried not to ridicule anything. I try to make my posts rational and I keep difficult words to a minimum. But no, no replies. I am not bitter about it, but I am pissed off about the reason of why that is. People tend to ignore everything that goes against their beliefs, and responding to a post which has potential to do just that is dangerous. (And no, I do not think I am some sort of a genius who knows everything or anything like that, I'm just trying to find rational conversations.)

Beliefs that are common to most here are easily recognizeable, as those are things which are never argued about. Number of alien races is one such thing. There simply is nothing to argue about. Somebody says 7, some girl next door says 10, somebody who has written a book says 166 and so on. So how do you argue about it? No, there really is no way to do just that.

Personally, I believe in extraterrestial life because I do not find it logical that life has been born only once. But that's about it. There may be some animals there, some vegetation here, and maybe even some semi-intelligent creatures somewhere. And just maybe there are technologically adapt species of alien creatures somewhere. Maybe even a thousand different species of that kind, who knows.

Yet, that I think proves nothing. Just about everything presented here on ATS has been on sci-fi books, comics, tv series or movies before anybody online talked about it. Although I do know for certain that some writers take some specific ideas from online world, most have been created for enterntainment. People refuse to believe that. A good example of such refusal is that a theory about disinformation is immediately created. The fact that there may be nothing out there is not even discussed, there will always be new theories about how everything is true.

There are people here who:

Believe they are messengers of truth, although their truth only exists within minds of people who spend time reading the stuff on ATS.

Believe they are archangels. This blew me out, those people really exist here. I have read a lot of theology and know for fact that currently thousands of people believe they are archangel michael, three of them are here on ATS.

Believe they have been chosen to spread whatever message aliens have given to them, usually something to do with world peace and symbiosis with nature. I have nothing against those particular goals, but people who do it here will never be heard seriously because of the nature of people who dwell here.

Now, before you get too angry for me I will say to you this: there are people here who do not believe everything they read, there are intelligent people here and there are men of reason here. That's a good thing. Its just that they never get listened to, mainstream audience believes most things they read.

Internet as only source of information is a disease, and a dangerous one indeed. People just cannot really know that themselves unless they listen to what others have to say. Internet is a world which is very very different compared to real world. Anybody living solely on information that is online is not going to get listened to, if he ever tries to get people seriously interested about whatever subject. For those people I recommend some book of knowledge with good mainstream acceptance.

Why? Because most people here have not a single time read any one such book. They believe that truth is online, which quite often is a long long way from truth.

Mind you, I did not say that nothing online is true, but the perspective of the world that online information as sole source gives is flawed.

Nobody who should listens to this post either, they are too full of flawed information to actually realize that a gut-check would be in place.

Perhaps someday, sometime, one of those people actually take time and read opinions that are against their beliefs. I do not mean some single forum post, or series of posts, but a good long book that does not agree with you people. Just try to read one.

One of the main reasons I hate the "Can you post a source for that please?" statment.. is that ..

1 A lot of information IS found in books and not on the net..
2 It makes people a little lazy and they don't go look for evidence themselves..whether it be in their own reference library or online..

Having said that in a little agreement with you..
I do NOT believe that people take outlandish claims(and there ARE some made on this site) as fact.

Quite the opposite in fact..Outlandish claims are VERY frequently met with resourceful deliberation and debate..

My advice.. Maybe it's you who's taking this a little too seriously and should take a little more time reading the majority of posts which are very FACTUAL and informative.
If it bothers you this much in only a month here then I'd refrain from reading any further..
Try the Fox network as that seems to be very *cough* factual and unbiased..
My 2p..

You have to filter through everything and decide for yourself what's true. It's just like anything else, even textbooks. The point in ATS is not to give you the truth, but to give you a lot of differing opinions and many sides of the stories so that you can decipher them for yourself. If you'd rather have a medium which tells you what to believe I suggest Fox News.

I don't disagree with much of your assessment and your post is well-written. I would only add that at least we put the "fun" in Dysfunctional.

Question? Why do you feel the need to explain yourself to or condemn irrational and psychologically diseased people?

Let it go...

As I tap my ruby slippers . . .

Tis only a rant, tis only a rant . . .

Is it us, the members of ATS or you that take themselves way too seriously? I would say both. Why are you still here though? Are you going to fix us? Pook us with a stick? I am all for ranting but there is so much more to ATS than ego massaging.

I can not even begin to tell you how many actual news stories I say break here, on the ATS network, long before the were anywhere to be seen in the main stream media.

There are those that like to pretend. There are those that may be unstable. But there are also those who have something to say; something that others will not listen to. So, they come here, where we listen to it all.
