Why does the Kremlin want 3,200 female white mice?

uk.reuters.com

Wanted: 3,200 white mice. Must be female. No more than 18 grams.

Purchaser: the Kremlin security service.

So why does the Kremlin guard, which is made up of former spies and elite troops who protect President Vladimir Putin, want to buy so many female white mice?

Intresting.... the kremlin later on say its for the falcons to eat.

but if that is true why under 18 grams and why female? do falcons have fussy tastes?

sounds like a lab test to me needing that many mice? but then what would the Kremlin be testing .....? a vaccine? a virus?.

Can't think of any other reason for needing so many mice .. can you?

Answer: Because it's the easiest way to get a little tail.....

hahaha...sorry....bad joke....

seems everyone is asking this question....(really I just wanted to post the little tail part though....

Museum of Hoaxes Theories

One theory is that the mice will be used for experiments -- perhaps to test substances such as the radioactive poison polonium210. This seems plausible.

However, the mainstream media is leaning toward the theory that the mice will be fed to the falcons used to keep crows away from the Kremlin. This doesn't make any sense to me at all. Why specially order white, female lab mice if you're just going to feed them to birds?

Emil Steiner of the Washington Post's OFF/beat news writes: "The story seems too ridiculous to be real. And yet almost everyone writing about it seems to take at face value that the guard wants these mice." Steiner also raises the question of why the Guard Service would have placed a public ad in the first place. Surely it has the means to discreetly find 3200 mice.

I vote it's for falcon food!
