Meteor footage

This is really cool footage.

The caption says that the footage was taken today and that explosions were heard.

Nice vid, but it's not a meteor. Way to slow! It's probably space junk. The video is all over the place (keeps starting/stopping) and it's hard to tell, but towards the end, it looks like a plume of some kind is ejected, which would be consistent with junk.

It's a missile or orbital rocket launch. The staging is easy to see near the end of the clip.

Good call RGReventlov, that would probably make more sense.

Possibly the "secret satellite" launch from Vandenburg on Thursday:

Good catch RGReventlov.

VANDENBERG AIR FORCE BASE, Calif. - An Atlas 5 rocket carrying a secret U.S. satellite lifted off before dawn Thursday, officials said.

I'd say we have a winner.

Hmmm.....it appears you are correct, fatdeeman.

I searched around for it, with no luck.

Perhaps this comment in the video description has something to do with it?

"Filmed March 13, 2008: Southern California - In the beginning I was convinced I was witness to a UFO, I have never seen anything like it before. Explosions was heard... MoreĀ» 4-5min later. (If your are interested in purchasing the raw video please email me.)"

You're probably right Jbird... that and they were probably embarrassed that it was not a "real" UFO! If it had been me, I'd just have updated it with a note to say that I was mistaken - no big deal, anybody can make a mistake, even if it is obvious to the more experienced eye that it was probably something more mundane than ET.

There was an explosion of a massive star , visible to the naked eye. They say the star was 150 times larger than our sun. It was a huge explosion, most likely this is what you saw. I cannot see your video, I wish I could, but I am having activex issues (that is another thread, so far no answers). But google 'star explodes' and check it out.
