Gulfstream G650

Gulfstream has launched the "biggest, fastest, furthest flying purpose built jet ever". The G650 was unveiled today, and is capable of a maximum cruise speed of Mach 0.925, faster than the Cessna Citation X. It is capable of flying 7,000NM (13,000 KM), and has the same cabin cross section as the Bombadier Global Express XRS.

First flight will be in the second half of 2009, certification by 2011, and entry into service by 2012.

Joining Gulfstream’s product line-up above the G550, which will continue in production, the G650 offers a 7,000nm (13,000km) range at Mach 0.85, a maximum cruise speed of M0.925 and the largest cabin in its class, the company says.

The G650 offers the same cabin cross-section as the Bombardier Global Express XRS, but longer ranges at higher speeds (more details). The new Gulfstream will also become the fastest civil aircraft in production, beating Cessna’s Mach 0.92 Citation X.

Windows give it the illusion of being small, maybe comparable to a Learjet. Until you look at the dimensions and weights of it. Weighs more than a DC9-10 and DC9-21.

Not a revolutionary, but it sure is still a pretty amazing aircraft. It can fly further than the Bombardier XRS with LESS fuel. Windows 70cm across. Engines are one third quieter than the BR710. Cabin altitude is 4,850ft at 51,000ft and 2,765ft and 41,000ft. Impressive. DC9, although in a different class, would be around 8000 at 37,000ft. Cockpit is to die for.

Too bad Gulfstream does not produce airliners, they could show Airbus and Boeing a little on how do design beautiful aircraft.

size wise its comparable to a 737-500

thats the sort of size your looking it - heck of room in there - the 737 packs 123 in , this gulfstream will at MAX have 18!
