Hi agent. nah, I like sports. I used to be in the track team in HS. but I work now, go to the bar and like to chill out. These games run all day long and take alot of time away. Maybe if I didn't have a job. Sure, I like to look at the results. and if the United states gets a golden medal I'll read about it. But I won't watch for more than 2 mins.

The Op, The one the only Jedimiller!

The olympics is not the sporting force it once was, that is for sure. But, with so many medals going to so many different countries, many of which didn't exist 10 or 15 years ago. I feel it is a fantastic time to educate people from all over the globe that people from all over the globe are in fact the same.

No matter where and to who you are born, we all start out the same.

Personally I love to watch just about anything competitive, I can appreciate the skill and artistry that goes into the training, preparation and execution for any event. I prefer sports that require a mixture of physical and mental ability, but I'll watch them all.

The horsey stuff is taking place in Hong Kong (as long as this flu out break goes away, fingers crossed.) I don't have any plans to go, but if there are tickets going (free that is) and I have the time it would be a fantastic thing to see, but I'm usually very busy in the summer!

The olympics is an excellent opportunity for China to present its self to the world and to make firm strides forward with re-guard to Human rights, animal rights and religious freedoms amongst many things I'm sure others could mention. Segregation and isolation will not make this world a better place. Open up your mind, see the world for what it is and if needs be, help to make it better.

They may need infrared enhancements to see through the fog of smog:

Smog Blog

'.... Ethiopian Haile Gebrselassie, 34, is a favourite for a gold medal this summer but is likely to focus instead on the 10,000 metres because he suffers from asthma.

“The pollution in China is a threat to my health and it would be difficult for me to run 42km in my current condition,” he said. “But I am not pulling out of the Olympics altogether.”'

There's word that he may reconsider if they move the event out of the city.

Looking at the actual levels, it appears the problem is much greater in Beijing.

In Athens, twenty percent of the athletes complained about it; I've been in LA on a bad day, so no joke.

There has been worse. In the 1904 Olympics during the marathon in St. Louis. Less than half the runners (14 of 32) were able to finish the course through the dusty streets, still being used at the same time as horse drawn carriages.

Reportedly, one American runner nearly died. Stomach hemorrhage from swallowing too much dust!

I for one like the Olympics. I like what they stand for and I don't believe Olympics should be boycotted. Especially for purely political reasons. The West boycotted Moscow because the Soviets invaded Afghanistan. Should China ban the West for doing the same? I say no.
The Olympics are a time for national pride, to cheer for your athletes and celebrate when they win. I am still proud of Ben Johnson. Carl Lewis was juiced too. Give the gold back to Ben!

www.wildmanmedia.com...

Let me lay down this gauntlet. The USA's program is so far advanced that the IOC medical commission cannot even bear to keep up with new substances and methods of clean up and deceit used by American athletes. (Ask the family of Florence 'Flo Jo' Griffith-Joyner, if they are grateful for these advances). "The Americans, the biggest Olympic cheats since the crumbling of the Iron Curtain, will keep their medals, but the moral soapbox they used to promote cheaters while clucking their tongue at athletes from every other nation is no more."

For a precious moment in time, it felt great to see Ben Johnson run the 100m with blazing speed and a then-record time of 9.79. In that small window of time, Ben was the World's Fastest Man and I was proud of him. If Lewis did indeed use banned substances, then the obvious conclusion is this; Ben kicked your ass! Ben said it then, that the field was filled with cheats, and should now be able to hold his head high and be relieved of this burden.

I used to watch parts of the olympics many years ago. I just don't seem to find it very entertaining anymore.

Well, if the Goverment of CHina would actualy step up and talk about these Issuies, then you could have an argument, but instead they are putting Gag orders on athletes, and rounding up and Killing all stray animals.

Not exaclty the Conerstones of a Free Society.

Segregation and isolation will not make this world a better place. Open up your mind, see the world for what it is and if needs be, help to make it better.

The thought process of 'Open you mind up' / 'try new things' are the phraes that destroy our society. A plethora of ideas can be justified by those phrases.

For Example....

DUring HItleres Olymics, the English Soccer/Footabll team gave Hitler a little salute... you know the one im talking about, the Hail Hitler Salute... Im sure they were just Open-minded, and were trying new things...

Rather then pushing the issues as to what was going on, the Brits caved to the presure and disgraced themselves in the pages of history...

I stand by on the Boycott... i would hope the MSM would start bringing up some of these tuff issuies... but instead ill just see if i can catch the Easter Bunny... i got a better shot at that....

The way the officials and referees tend to favor the host country; what's the point in even calling it a competition. It is a nice showcase and somewhat entertaining but not a real competition anymore.

And I didn't even mention performance enhancing drugs or steroids!!

I do like the bodies of female athletes quite a bit however!

For me the olympics died after the US spat out the dummy and got the rules changed so they could have pro-basketball players after they lost one time.

That used to be the beauty of the olympics - the fact that the favourite could quite easily lose.
Now with even more drug scandals, the sickening way western leaders are cozying up to china despite their human rights record and all the blatant commercialism, I've lost interest for the most part.

That said, here's a good old fashioned olympic story.
I doubt he'll get a medal, but great story all the same.

Ideally the Olympic aren't about the medal count, or who wins, who loses. Its about fair and open competition...fun. Remember that?

In reality? It's about who get on the cereal box, who goes to Disneyland, or poses in Playboy...

But there are alway great stories that come out of the Olympics. The swimmer from some desert country which has only one swimming pool large enough, or a ski jumper from Tahiti, or something of the sort. Those are the stories that make the Olympics for me. I'll watch, and use the good stories to counterbalance the Cereal box posers.

World Cup is still better than the Olympics! Why would anyone want to watch an event where the same ten countries dominate it every time?

I haven't watched a single hour of the Olympics so far. Just not interested methinks.
