Chinese Airliner HIjacked on Route Beijing, not Announced in Media

Chinese officials said on Sunday it was the airline crew that thwarted the hijack attempt of an airliner last week, and that all the passengers and crew were safe.

On Sunday, the government announced it had foiled two terrorist plots, including an attempt to bring down a Chinese airliner and the shooting dead of members of a gang which had been planning to attack this summer's Beijing Olympics.

Well apparently what happened was a hijacking plan that ALMOST went on successful. From what I heard, 4 people were arrested including one teenage girl of unknown age. The girl somehow got a coke can of gasoline on to the plane going from XinJiang to BeiJing and she almost was able to lit the plane on fire until some aviation police caught her. It has been rumored that girls like here were brainwashed from the age of 6 till the "time" for her to die comes. It was a suicide mission, just like 911, but the target was just the plane and the people on it.

Apparently, only a few English sources have actually reported this.

China said its main terrorist threat comes from the East Turkestan Islamic Movement, an Islamic separatist group in Xinjiang. Xinjinang province is located in the remote north-western part of the country. Xinjiang has a large Muslim population and a very different culture from that of Han Chinese who make up most of the population.

Some groups in XinJiang have used terrorism in the past for independence with little to no success. Some say that this Hijacking had to do with Osama Bin Laden.

I do not know why this situation isn't being announced here in the U.S., because this stuff is serious, just like 9/11. These terrorists are planning their attack on the 2008 Olympics, it's too obvious.

The question is, will other nations help China to take care of problems like these? Or will they sit there and laugh and smear China when thousands of people are dead?

No, I heard NPR report it today and they insinuated that the Chinese had made the whole thing up (likely), because they were giving so few details. Apparently this is just a Chinese attempt to demonize the Ughyr (sp) separatists who they persecute.

The problem here is that we do NOT know that it's fake.
Which is wiser? Sitting here and complain that there are no threats in China, OR actually creating a sense of awareness and prevent problems like 9/11?
