So long, John -- gas is $4 a gallon

March 10, 2008 | On March 7, the average price of a gallon of gasoline in the United States reached $3.17. Four dollars a gallon by summertime is well within the realm of possibility -- even if that comes as a surprise to the current occupant of the White House. Record gas prices? During an election year? What could it mean?

Let's review the historical record.

When Jimmy Carter was sworn in as president in January 1977, the average price of a gallon of regular leaded gasoline was 60 cents.

By November 1980, the price had doubled to $1.19. So long, Jimmy!

On March 11th, 2008, the average gas price in Canada was 1.15 dollars per liter. 3.78 liters in a gallon makes it basically 4.40 a gallon. Yup, gas prices suck. But the U.S. still has cheaper gas than most of the planet.

And yes, Jimmy Carter is and always will be, the Anti-Christ.

that's because, rest of the planet is already paying 500% more for gas,
to substitute for Bush Buck Blunders. it's as simple as that. the rest of the planet, still has to fork-out the $5 trillion that went missing.

In New Zealand we are paying 1.74 per liter...so I say to my fellow Americans suck it up....things could be worse.

Oh and if your trying to draw a straight line between high gas prices and Bush will be gone because of it...he'll be gone anyway and I'm sure could care less...the Bush family fortune will be safe...the increase in price will be offset (for them anyway) by the amount of money they make from the oil companies because of it.
