ICRC warns on food, water shortages in Somalia

GENEVA, March 11 (Reuters) - The humanitarian situation in Somalia is worsening alarmingly, with many families facing life-threatening shortages of food and water in some areas, the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) said on Tuesday. It also voiced concern at the high number of casualties from fighting in Mogadishu, noting more than 600 "war-wounded" had been treated in the capital's two main hospitals this year.

As the world is affected by recession, stagflation or whatever you wantt to call it, along with bird flu, bio fuel production and energy prices, the Third World is like a canary in a coal mine. It is the most sensitive to these changes. Already food riots and various shortages have affected the Third world.
