Four Year Olds Refuse Nap at School, Handcuffed, Escorted Out

www.nypost.com

The parents of two Bronx preschoolers are suing the city, charging that their kids were tossed out of class - and handcuffed by a school-safety officer - for refusing to take a nap

According to the complaint, the preschool instructors would have none of it. They promptly handcuffed the tots and escorted them out of the classroom. Once this occurred, they were apparently threatened to be sent to jail without toys.

We are talking school not boot camp right? 4 years old Not 24year olds? Who has the right to handcuff a child? Answer - No one, unless law officials are there and the minors actually broke some sort of law.

"Right now, I feel [there are] monsters in school," she said. "I'm still perturbed. As I'm talking to you, I'm shaking."

Parents will win this one hands down.!

You know it is funny that they think that most four year olds will always do as they are told. It is sad that those working at this “school” thought this was the way to go. I also have to ask what the heck a school safety officer is doing at a preschool?

As far as threatening them I can see telling them they will not get snacks or play time if they do not take their nap, but I have never heard of putting a four year old in jail.

I guess when we start letting the “state” decide how we raise our children we should expect that they will do most of the raising for us.

Just another example of government school gone bad. It's really time to hand the schools back to the public and let the private sector of each state do the job. Or better yet, get your kids into private schools before it's too late. Teachers don't try to teach anymore because there is no one to compete with them. We need a choice to put our children in the best school with the teachers we choose. Put a dollar sign on the back of our kids and say " teach them right or somebody else will get the money"

Putting handcuffs on a 4 year old is not acceptable. This give me generation of teachers don't know crap about teaching students, it's more about power. Do what I want you to do or else attitudes. There is no more teaching morals and respect ( both ways ) for students and teachers. I wonder what's next?

just one more reason when i have a child he or she will be home schooled. between this and the shots, and the very skewed history and conform or die attitude i cant help but think children would be better off if they were taught at home. at least when being home schooled i get to choose what methods and information is being used to teach them .

I have to disagree with you there.
I don't think this is really an issue of public vs private schools. Here in Canada almost all of our schools are public, and this sort of thing would never fly.

In fact, we're pretty hardcore about civil rights. If you detain someone without just cause or a crime to accuse them of, you yourself will likely end up in jail.

I think this has a good chance of occurring in a privately funded school as well. Not just public schools.

Though, our public schools don't have security officers.

So I guess it really boils down to your security officers protocols.

Well our police state is working on the very young to start showing them who is really in charge, is not mommy and daddy but big brother.

Targeting the very young will ensure a more frightened and pliable society that will take anything the police state will throw at them.

Those kids are my heroes.

Seriously though, that story is horrendous. They're FOUR. The teacher must've been on some major crack to have done that.

Hey, this brought back memories of 1956 when I entered kindergarden. We had a basement class room where we did kindergarden things and one time a kid had a birthday.

The kids mom baked cupcakes for every one in class and this fat pig teacher scolded me for something as she handed out cupcakes to all the kids but me. I was told to lay on my nap blanket while every one else ate there cupcakes. than the pig tells every one they now have to take a nap. So I'm laying already on my nappy poo blanket when I look over at the pig.

She's eating my cupcake with a couple more cause some kids were not in for the day. So miss piggy ate her cupcake, mine and several others. What a pig and ever since than I hate people with authority.

If this was today, I would be the kid in this story cuffed for acting up. I never did conform to the mans rule.

Wow this is interesting... If I was in the school at age four...I would be thrown in Jail multiple times then cause I hate to sleep
.

Back on the issue at hand though...

So officers threaten to throw two children in jail because there not sleepy? Seriously whats next? being thrown in jail for not being hungry during snack-time? Would have liked it if one of the kids kicked the teacher in the shin. As for the cops...they could have at least humored the boys instead of being so damn strict. I mean come on...They could have at least told the boys why nap time is important or why they should behave during nap time. When I have kids...(If I do) I'm watching them like a hawk. If someone tries this stunt would sue them blind.

Take 'em for all that they have! Money is the only thing that government responds to.

What? No taser?

The real issue here is not that two kids were handcuffed. It's why we have to have cops in schools today.

Clearly, this was wrong, but the problem goes much deeper than the facts of this case would indicate.

This is unacceptible behavior, but not unexpected, The Public schools in the USA have become nothing more than government indoctrinization fascilities, and prefer obedience over education, as a matter of fact , education is discouraged, as a uneducated and oppressed and fearfull populace is easier to control

Did you think this was not going to happen? Teachers both male and female have been emasculated by constant suits over the years by lawyers trying to make a buck and people having sugar plum visions of grandeur (ie money).
There are good lawsuits, possibly 20% but all the rest contribute to a
total hands off, punishment off, disregard of the little rascals behavior,
at least in a non home schooled environment.

I know I was a rascal in pre-school and I expected punishment (if caught)
But the schools today have two options, let the disruptive behavior continue or call the authorities. We all know what happens when authorities are brought into the picture, even if the authorities are locally hired badge toten bums.

If that had happened to me when I was in school, my dad would have been down at the school getting me out, by whatever means necessary to secure my release. Honestly, handcuffing children is below low. It's just not something that you do.

I guess it's a good thing I don't have kids yet, cause I would have decked someone over that nonsense.

I would have gone to jail if that happened to my daughter. I do not think I would be able to refrain myself from exerting my authority on the teacher and security guard like they did to the 4 year olds. If they are so intimidated by a 4 year old that they would have to resort to using handcuffs, I am sure they would have a difficult time with a full grown adult that is out of his mind with rage.

"The real issue here is not that two(four yr. olds) kids were handcuffed( for not feeling like having nappy time). It's why we have to have cops in schools today."

omg, do you read what you type?

It Does Imply Overt Totalitarian tactics of brainwashing the young to accept 'iron fist' authority.
maybe some just can't read between the lines.

the real issue is not why we have cops in school, but why they are being the oppressors instead of the protectors.

What do you expect from a school system that kicks kids out of school for drawing a picture of a gun? We've all been though the drills of being told what to do in school and were rewarded or punished appropriately, but now the punishment is way over the top and we see the same mentality in the schools that we see in our jails.

Them 4 year olds deserve an award and the adults involved need to do some serious jail time.

If anyone handcuffed my kid at 4 years old, I'm afraid to say what might happen.

I had a hard time putting up with those type of imbeciles when I went to school, but they were few & far between then. Now they are the status quo - no wonder we have so many school shootings.

Slavery indoctrination, do what we say or go to prison and we'll make you.

They must handcuff little kids on a regular basis to have the small cuffs onhand.
