Dirty Bomb threat as UK ships Plutonium to France

www.independent.co.uk

Weapons-ready plutonium that terrorists could easily make into a nuclear bomb is to be carried hundreds of miles down the west coast of Britain in an unarmed ship, The Independent on Sunday can reveal.

We have been throughly scared off by the supposed threat of terrorists using a dirty bomb on a western city. Britain now seems to ship such dangerous materials in an unarmed vessel.

Ouch.

They better get a detail on that ship pretty quick. Its almost as if they are tempting people to come and get it!

Hey ! So let's all tell the terrorists where the plutonium is exactly. I don't think the news agency gave out all of the necessary passwords and combinations yet.

I find this hard to believe as any high-grade nuclear material shipped around the UK is, usually, escorted by Armed Police and/or the Army. I would imagine that this ship has a compliment of Marines and if not, then there will be RN ships of helicopters ready to respond, seeing as it is in coastal waters.

EDIT:

Here we go:

The vessel to be used for the new shipments will be manned by armed officers from the Civil Nuclear Constabulary, but will be otherwise unarmed and will not have an escort. And it is equipped with only a single hull and one engine.

So, the ship might be unarmed, but it's full of armed men.
