I believe that what the constitution calls for is a representative republic, but what we've devolved down to is a socialist democracy I'm afraid.

IMO, almost any system can work if the people are at a high enough moral level. You can't con an honest man you know. Only those looking to get something for nothing fall for the deceits of the demagogues. America has fallen because her people have fallen into immorality.

It's the the corporations that donate huge sums to their election campaigns that own them, seriously even if they say there are no strings attached, the politicians know if they vote against these companies interests they won't be getting that any more money from that corporation for the re-election campaign they will soon have to win.

Also many of these politicians have skeletons in their closets as is proven by the many scandals, get the goods on them and you can definitely influence their votes.

The small mom and pop businesses are not the ones I was speaking of.

Our country was founded upon a Constitutional Republic, one of the oldest Constitutional Republics in the world. A constitutional republic is designed so that, no person or group can rise to absolute power. Does'nt sound true to the times though. So, I agree with you that every system in theory should work. It's unfortunate that we don't factor in corruption and greed in to the mix because we obviously do not get the same result's.

Maybe they should make it so you don’t get to see WHO your voting for, but WHAT your voting for.

In other words, you don’t see the person, you never get to see if they are black or white or man or woman, all you get to see is what they propose to do, what their values are, what they will do for the country.

That’s the only way you know your getting a president based on what they will do for their country, rather than a race, sex popular vote.

A Constitution is created so the majority cannot vote the minority's rights away, which could be a problem in a 'true democracy.'

We could certainly have a more true democracy in this country, but we decided a representative democracy would be good enough (the Connecticut Compromise). That was back in the day when the population was only a few million people in the entire country.

Now that we have a bloated population (geez, I guess I meant that figuratively but literally as well I supposed) of over 300 million, there is no way 535 people in Congress and the House can represent us all.

Not to mention the lobbyists who are pretty much the only people who get their way in the first place.

Our needs as a society, culture, and nation are not being met on a personal level by the people who are supposedly there to protect and serve us.

Democracy is a total hoax. All government is a hoax. It serves no purpose at all. I am for abolishing all governments, militaries, organized religions, corporations, foundations, and education systems in a peaceful fashion ASAP.

This about it. What good has any of it brought you? What is convenience really worth?

I'll second that. All we need is a planetary wide police force to maintain the peace and to keep ya all off each others backs and from victimizing and robbing each other. With out some kind of police state, Hitler could rise up somewhere again and take advantage of an unprotected planet.

Other than that, I think the citizens of Earth can take care of the rest on their own for themselves. Governments should be doing the peoples bidding, but instead we have to sit around and speculate and wonder what the hell they are up to now. And if that were not enough, these bratty little governments keep starting fights with each other all the time and send their citizens to die fighting them. That's not very nice of ones own government. Do away with them. The people should be able to take a vote to dissolve them, right?

Divinorumus - A global police state is the exact opposite of what I am aiming for. Obviously, if there is any kind of power structure like this, psychopathic control freaks will immediately take it over and begin with the abuses.

Hitler wouldn't have had anything to take over if there had been no state, military, or even technology of any kind. He could have tried to get a tribal band together, but he would have been immediately squashed by surrounding tribes as soon as he tried anything.

I would really just like to live like the Native American Indians.

Nothing would please me more too, yet I fear if there was nobody around to maintain global peace and order, someone would form another gang and come along and proclaim they have discovered the land we already occupy and label us worthless wildlife and run us off, and the whole vicious cycle would start again. I've realized many humans need a threat of death and someone with a big stick towering over them before they have an incentive to behave, especially them religious folks (in some cases not even threats of eternal damnation from their omnipotent god is enough to make them behave as a nice monkey should, ha).

Of course, a massive reduction in the number of bad people on the planet might make a harmonious native life style possible again. Maybe all the christians and muslims will take themselves and their governments out of the bigger picture with their rapture and armageddon and evacuate the planet voluntarily and leave for heaven and then the rest of us can live in peace. One can only hope ~ and help them!

Mob rule, like for instance.

I live in brent london, where whites seem to be a minority now. What use is it for me voting for a white person, when i know the blacks will just get the black person in.

Thats mob rule, and if your a minority in democracies, you have to be careful.

Its a rubbish system, full stop.

So a global police force is the answer to all our problems. Isn't that what so many are ranting about. How the US is becoming a police state, how all our freedoms are being stolen, yadda, yadda yadda.

How is a global police force an improvement over that?
