Blacks vote for blacks, women vote for women and white men play video games.

Sure, there is some crossover but not much. Obviously voting has nothing to do with real economic reform, or the true betterment of a country. Oh sure, my candidate will make everything better for me, or so that is what they tell me,
but dam everybody else.

Oh the humanity of it all

Do you think the votes even matter?
I didn't think so.

I see what you mean, but Democracy is the best system out there, despite GWB going around it, or Hillary's plans to.

I just hope that one day, people will be more educated and make better educated decisions about who they should vote for. One day.

Heh, nah it's not democracy that's the joke.

Dictatorship is invisible, so to say.

Votes don't matter because few care about the important stuff, we care about ourselves and vote accordantly.

When people vote based on race, sex, and social status democracy has lost its usefulness and purpose.

Lot of educated people voting strictly race and gender, doubt that will ever change.

The real bane of Democracy is commercialism. By being in a Democratic form of government, the natural economic system is capitalism. Capitalism is, unfortunately. an economic system where "only the strong survive".

As such, those with the most money buy the leaders, so that they can insure their survival as the top dogs. It's a mutated form of Natural Selection, if you ask me.

Unlike most other systems where the little guy survives in poverty and desperation, most of the world lives that way you know. I think I will take commercialism over that other stuff. Even with capitalisms flaws, it beats all other economic systems. My two cents.

Agreed. But this is as opposed to what? Communism (arguably the most humanitarian system of government ever devised by man, in theory.) denies the natural competitiveness of the human species and leads to tyranny through abuse by the leaders. This has been proven time and time again. Dictatorship under a fair leader is a very compassionate form of government, but alas, the same under a gruel leader can be the cruelest government known. Fascism led to world wars and horrendous criminal attempts at genocide.

I must point out that we do not actually live under pure democracy, either. Pure democracy can be compared to two wolves and a lamb voting on what to have for dinner. A democratic republic would be the same scenario, but with neither wolf able to vote for lamb chops.

So as long as we have greed and corruption, capitalism as we have it in the USA is unfortunately, the best option IMO. But the cost of freedom is eternal vigilance. That is a high price, and one that most today seem unwilling to pay. Too bad we don't have a collection agency for that.

True, but unfortunately, those are exactly the factors that influence any person's opinions and perspective. While there may be individuals who aren't bound by those influences.....the majority probably is.

Recent poll results from Mark J. Penn, author of microtrends: the small forces behind tomorrow's big changes, indicate that the most educated voters tend to vote based on personality and character by a significant margin; whereas, the less educated voter is much more aware of the issues and tends to vote based on such. Might you get a sense of foreboding to know that more people are becoming college educated nowadays? Or does it offer some comfort that the middle class, typically less educated, has a numerically greater number of voters?

We don't have democracy in the US.

We have a form of government called a Constitutional Republic. We have the Constitution to protect civil liberties, which is quickly being eroded, and people represent the American public's wishes.

However, as with the Constitution, our representatives are taking advantage of the good will of the people and slowly but surely turning this country into a dictatorship.

Right now we have a duopoly with two parties in power: Republican and Democrat. Its not the same as a monopoly, but its probably worse. At least in a monopoly the people are aware of what is happening.

In our country we are blind to the fact we really have no choice of government.

We are already living in a police state, soon to be much much worse if nothing is done to prevent it.

Soon you will have to request permission from the government before boarding plane. After that, I'm sure any travel out of your home state will be heavily restricted if the American people allow this sort of fascism to live on.

In a direct democracy, every person gets an equal vote. We don't even have 'democracy' in its most watered down form. You must be 18 years or older to vote, you cannot be a convicted felon, and you have to have a residence (no homeless need apply).

That is not democracy.

If voting changed anything they would make it illegal.

I believed that once but over a year ago we voters changed the congress big time, replacing many republicans with democrats. I think that was a first at least percentage wise. That was fine with me but then the economy tanked and it seems to be going south very fast. That's not good for slackers like me. If the economy goes who will pay for the safety net? democrats are suppose to help, not throw monkey wrenches into the works and making things worse.

Hi Biggie, I agree with pretty much everything you stated. I look at it as a monarchy govt here given that two families have been running this country for the past 20 years, make it 24 years if Hillary gets her way. I am going to puke if she gets the nomination. I can always write in mickey mouse for president when election time comes around.

Our representatives, both republicans and democrats are so owned by the corporations and the folks who have the dirt on them that they vote the way they are told IMO.

90 percent or more of corporations are family owned mom and pop business here in america. And they probably wish that they owned republicans and democrats so that they could get them to ease up on over taxing them.

Next time you are visiting one of the millions of mom and pop business in your community asked them if they are under taxed. Most business go out of business every year, certainly not because they own politician, more likely because politicians own them via taxes.

Same with our property taxes, if you don't pay them the politicians will sell your house out from under you.

haha yea i wrote it on a sign at a protest when hillary came to albuquerque.

It's very sad that the people of America believe that they are changing our country when they vote. The government does not care what the people think or whats in their best interest. They only care about their rich corporations.
