Not yours truly (?) but Douglas Hofstadter, apparently.

Such is the title of his recent (2007) book, which must be fascinating, judging by this review:

The Year of Mathemagical Thinking

As must be his first book (which I also haven't read):

Godel, Escher, Bach: an Eternal Golden Braid

If anyone has read either or both, I'd like to hear your impressions.
Others, too, I am sure.

I read the "Golden Braid" one several years ago. I remember I thought it was great at the time, and I've recently considered re-reading it. After I get throught the stack of current titles in my queue, that is.

The guy's definitely one of the all-time geniuses, although I'm not impartial since he's a prof at my alma mater, Indiana University. He came right after I graduated, though.

Anyway, anything he's written will be well worth your time to read, IMO.

The Godel book is awesome. he shows parallels between Godels math, Bachs fugues and Eschers artwork. Pretty amazing stuff...
