Documenting Chanology: Where do the Conspiracies Lie?

The recent events surrounding Scientology and Anonymous have brought into the spotlight a number of videos about Scientology, many critical of the Church. In a recently-released feature-length documentary by Anonymous (The Authorities), certain conspiracies by the Church are suggested, which may be worth further investigation. The film may also shed some light on the question of whether Anonymous itself is a conspiracy, or being guided by conspiratorial actors.

Does the Church of Scientology conspire to keep the most basic facts about itself secret? Is its secrecy for the purpose of conspiring to extract money from unwitting members? Does Scientology conspire to intimidate those who oppose it? All of these are at least hinted at in the documentary, from the words of former scientologist Tory Christman, within the infomercial-style promotion of products by the church, as well as in the tailing of protestors, apparently by a member of the church, and in the photographing of protestors by church staff, seen repeatedly throughout the video.

On the other side, it has been suggested, on this site and elsewhere, that Anonymous itself is a hidden conspiracy, perhaps controlled by some or other government or government agency; the idea of alien control has even been suggested. If the open nature of discussion boards used for planning is not sufficient to dispel this idea, would the numbers and geographical distribution illustrate the falsity of this conjecture, or the spontaneity seen in the pre-raids, or perhaps the variety of expression seen during protests?

Of the various conjectured conspiracies involved, where do the real conspiracies lie?

In the following video, long time Scientologist (now former Scientologist) Tory Christman describes the policy of separating Scientologists from any critics, even when those critics are family or friends, perhaps supporting the contentions that Scientology conspires to keep facts about itself secret, and that it conspires to intimidate those who oppose it (via disconnection from family and friends).
