So, I've learned XHTML, and I'm currently learning CSS, after which I'll be learning some web programming such as PHP and Javascript. My goal is to create a website where people who are of like mind on this whole SitX thing can do two things. One, they will have access to information regarding survival, etc. from other online sources such as articles, links to good websites, etc. Two, it will provide a medium for people across the nation, and possibly even the continent, to network and create social bonds which may come in useful during a SitX.

I have always thought I would go it alone, and I still might, but there's something to be said about knowing other like-minded individuals and having correspondence with them, hopefully even in the event of a SitX. If we can create a network now, it will be useful during the SitX. I figured it wouldn't be a literal militia by any measure, but if say the government and military turned on us, we could band together based on our social network of like-minded people rather than each trying to fight it ourselves. If the network grew large enough, it would be a great asset in any SitX situation.

I was worried about the possibility that anyone who was a member of the site or even just visited might be blacklisted or something, but I think the reality is that if the powers-that-be are capable of that, anyone who would visit my sight would already be the list. I think the potential benefits outweigh the risks involved.

I'm hoping for the website to be completed by the next election at the latest, (just a timeline, not because I believe anything will happen at that date!), and that it will begin to foster interest fairly quickly so that we can build a national network in as little time as possible. The network wouldn't be an organized one with meetings or anything, but would provide people with contact information, (possibly email addresses within the web domain that would not require any personal information, if I can swing it), and when individuals begin to see people in nearby areas with similar interests in survival they'll be able to use that in a potential SitX. For example, if I met someone in my vicinity, with like-minded beliefs on Martial Law, and Martial Law was declared, I could check up on that person and they could check up on me to make sure we both carried out our escape plans accordingly. (Also, if I got information about it before they did I could warn them in advance.)

My plan to recruit members quickly is to email the websites to various organizations that would have members that would be interested, offer to exchange links on the website, and get members that way. I would also send my URL to militias across the country as their members would probably have some interest, and militias would be good things to network with in the event of a SitX.

As mentioned, the site will also be chock full of survival information, as much as I can gather and organize.

Anyway, that's my plans, still sorting out the details, but once I get a better grip on CSS and some knowledge of some web-scripting I'm going to get to work on it. I may end up enlisting the help of my cousins who own a web design company, but I'm not sure it's up their alley. :p

Any suggestions or ideas? Anyone think it just won't work and I shouldn't waste my time with it?

That sounds like a great idea. It would be kool to know that there are other people in your area that would be willing to work together in a SitX.

I don't think I'd trust anyone around my area.

Though it would be a good way to keep track of where possible stockpiles of supplies are being kept by others. It'll give all the grasshoppers a nice list of ants to steal from.

I'd be real careful about what sort of information I put up there. For every good person you may partner with there will be one just out to take what you have, kill you, rape your children, etc...

Be very careful. It takes a lot of work to move supplies if discovered by a undesirable individual.

If only the site could include only those with good intentions
UNfortunatly this is the internet. Have to rely on friends, and we all no mos of our friends arn't in the least taking a Sit x all that serious.

Oh well, in a Sit X, being alone and being in a group has both pluses and minues.

Good thing it won't be for dating... sounds like a real sausage fest.

Only thing I can suggest is to be extremely benign and watch what friends you make. Talking about networking militias and whatnot... that gets noticed. Militias already have to deal with feds penetrating and subverting them. It could definitely be done without earning a terrorist label, but a good lawyer is someone you might want on your payroll.

I personally think in a generic way this will work, but. I would really watch the militias. most are just good Americans but some are very extreme and full of rage. even a lawyer wont help with that.

what you really need to do is talk to several webmasters to seek advise. especially those that are running Survival Sites. I know somebody who would be happy to give you all the advise you can handle if your interested I will see If I have there permission to U2U you there email address. Let me know.

I think that is good in theory, however you have to look at the two sides of the coin... even if the intentions are all well and good it is possible that you will have some radicals and eccentrics, and just the thought of that notion isn't well too good.

People with some ideas, and a plan if it all goes down... maybe a few that have some guns. People with some ideas, lot's of financial backing and REALLY BIG GUNS at their disposal is more worrying to me. Half-dozen eggs in a basket, it could work... but if you get a couple dozen in the same room together, it could spell trouble... and the head eggmen might come a knocking if you know what I mean.

If you do it, I wish you the best, but proceed and err on the side of caution... organization seems grand, but just don't put all of your eggs in one basket so to speak. It will not go unnoticed.

My advice, this sort of talk is watched by the bigger man, so keep a level head since they might not play so nice.

Certainly can't hurt to try and the idea is worth the effort. As membership grows you'll be able to enlist moderators to take over most of the babysitting duties.

Just get acquainted with a good lawyer to make sure all your bases are covered. You don't have to retain them or anything. Just pay hourly for their services as needed.

Nothing is ever easy, but the important thing is to try to do what good you can through the gifts and talents you've got.

Don't worry about the government. They likely already have you on a list and have a prison camp already picked out for you.

Sadly, I'm serious, so go out and be bold !!!

Slightly off-topic but wonder if groups like Zombie Squad are on the FBI's to be watched list? I would place my money on yes maybe I am getting to paranoid...

mabe the website would have a feature that could show your position if a sit X happens, if you so choose it of course and it could tell you of other people nearby that are with the website and have activated the little gps system so if a sitX happened you would know where to look for help and/or shealter

mabey this could be extended to mobile phones so as to not send the signal from your house but your exact position (provided you had your cell phone with you)

hopefully the website will be a big succsess

hmm.... you do have a point but that's why i said if you chose it but nonetheless we should have some anonymity because if the government wanted to find us then it would be all too easy hmmmmm you know what, forget the whole GPS thing i forgot about the government. hopefully they'd be on our side but i have no inclination to trust them

but it would be an advantage to be able to contact people that are on your side somehow but ill leave everyone else to help figure out the how
