Sports Being Fixed?

So I'm walking to the bus stop on my way to work and I run into some obviously drunk guy on the corner. He comes up to me and tells me "I'm this close to making an arrest" I look at him with a blank look because frankly I have no idea what he's talking about. Then he babbles on about Sports being rigged to steal money from the public. Money that is being bet on those sports. He claims he is an FBI agent, but him being a complete drunk made me weary about what he's talking about. Although he was clean cut and shaven so who knows maybe he was drunk because he is frustrated that he knows the truth and can't get it out to the public. Also he claimed the mob wants him dead. Alot of this seems far fetched to me because to throw a game there has to be players on that team in on it and I'm sure some of those players would feel uneasy and come forward with what they know. He was also going on about when he gets his hands on that irrefutable evidence that he will be on 60 minutes telling his story.

Now I didn't want to laugh because I keep an open mind about these things, but I just wanted to come on here and post this little conversation I had with him to see if anyone here is researching this or have also thought the same thing as him. Personally I don't watch sports or support it so i have no idea or opinion on it, but if this guy is on 60 minutes one day telling his story then I will just say hey, he was right.

I didn't get a name all I know is what he sort of looks like and would be able to recognize him if i saw him on TV.

Sounds like an FBI agent who pissed away his fortune on a sports betting habit. He went out, got #ty, and weaved an elaborate drunken tale.

But then who knows, maybe Michael Spinks took a dive.

No doubt sports have been fixed and will continue to be fixed. Everything from college basketball, to sumo wrestling in Japan, and many other sports in between. Boxing was notorious, but even the 1919 World Series was thrown. Paul Hornung and Alex Karras got in trouble for betting on football games in the '60's. Anything with gambling can lend itself to dishonesty.

His biggest point he made was the latest Superbowl. The Giants vs The Patriots. He goes on about how the Patriots were undefeated the whole season and choked on the Superbowl. He said why do you think there is a half time? I told him, well because they are tired and need a rest and I chuckled. He said because the people who run the games know how much money is being bet on which team and decide accordingly who will win, and apparently the majority of the public had bet on the Patriots and they would lose ALOT of money if they won, but they threw the game so they could make money instead of losing it.

I can see 1 on 1 events like boxing being fixed easily, but to say someone rigged the superbowl is really hard to fathom. There would have to be more than one person involved to be successful. For example, don't tackle this guy let him score, but make it look like you tried. I don't know, really hard to imagine that happening.

That doesn't really happen in professional sports all too often. People that bet on sports don't have complete control over games. If you knew anything about sports you would know that the coaches make the plays and the coaches would chastise their players if they were allowing themselves to be influenced with betting on sports teams.

It would be in the news if a player cheated. Michael Jordan was caught for gambling. People still say he's the greatest player of all time.

I don't think that betting has that much of an influence over sports. These are professional athletes we're talking about. They already have millions of dollars. They don't need to care or worry about some bet for money. That's why team owners pay them the big bucks. Also, coaches don't tell athletes what they need to do all the time for every second or every minute of the game. A lot of the game is in control of the players, and, during half time, the players don't really rest, that's when the coach goes over his/her coaching strategy for the team for the next half.

Sports exist for the people that play them to have fun. It isn't something that is completely fixed or controlled behind the scenes. There have been games that have been fixed but the results haven't been entirely fixed. It is impossible to construct a game that is fixed so that all of the players on a team try to do all of the things they can do so that they can lose. Athletes are too motivated to let stuff like betting and gambling get the best of them. There are shady athletes that participate with gambling, and, other illegal activities, but, let me let you know, that they are in the minority.

There is not some conspiracy to keep the Boston Celtics one of the best teams of the East in the NBA. They are one of the best teams of the East in because they have good players and a great coach. The Los Angeles Lakers have been good because of Phil Jackson, a really great coach, who has helped them regain championship status over this past decade. The Detroit Pistons win because they have an excellent team and a great point guard.

It's really impossible to fix sports games unless everyone on the team is committed to willingly commit the act. That doesn't happen very much in professional sports as much as we like to think it does.

Things in life are not as black & white as that.

*They* can use techniques to create a mass alternate-reality, that is totally beyond our human comprehension.

Every conceivable event and outcome you can imagine is possible, in another reality / dimension.

We accept the way things pan-out before our eyes, because we're human, and thus, we are hard-wired from the inside-out on how we perceive world around us.

It's not about game-fixing as such, it's about the 'powers that be' controlling events within timelines, for their own agendas, while making $$$ for their aids, further-funding their black-budget might in the process.

These 'powers that be' are interdimensional, and top-level military agents are aware of their existance.

It boils down to Quantum Physics

I have seen event's pan-out before me in such a way that leaves me in NO doubt that these things are very real, and are effecting us all, both individually & collectivelly.

Interesting point, but what I would like to know is...How can "they" (the people pulling the strings so to speak) throw a game in a direction they want it to go? The only thing I can see happening is having the QB completely suck that game in order for the other team to win, but would a QB want that sort of pressure on him? would it be worth it? Who tells him what to do? and what if he's not willing to participate and tries to come forward with the truth?

I don't doubt it's possible, but I think it would be very very hard to pull off without signs of foul play.

or maybe they slip him some sort of altering substance into his favorite sports drink and it throws is performance off just enough to lose . I don't know. I guess there are several ways without having them actually know what has been done.

and as for the patriots this past year, it must really suck to go undefeated and lose as bad as they did. I heard they cheated in some previous games, maybe thats karma coming back to kick them in the ass. who knows.

Well I'm no physicist, but wouldn't the cat not be in the box at all? To say the cat is both dead and alive at the same time, one would have to know there is a cat in the box in the first place. To know there is a cat in the box, one would have to know its state before it was put in, therefore u already know whether the cat is dead or alive.

If someone handed me a box and said there is a cat in here. Is it dead or alive? I'd say I don't know, let me look. I open the box and its alive, well then obviously the cat was always alive while in it. If the cat was dead, then I'd have to say, was the cat alive when u put it in? if yes, then dammit put some holes in the box next time poor kitty

They were caught using hidden cams on opponents.

It reminds me of old times. I used to play minor hockey, nothing special. But when the playoffs came around, the dirty tricks started. Some of it was pretty funny. Sometimes the home coach would arrange for the visitors locker room to be painted right before the game so the fumes were disgusting, or cut the visitor's bench like 2 feet short, so they can't sit everyone for a rest. Irritating, but funny.

Pro rasslin is the only real sport, everything else is fake.

There is probably no doubt that some of the games are rigged. Proof is that basketball ref. He was one person that was caught and exposed, his hand was slapped and life and sports go on.

Baseball earlier in the century was notorious for thrown games.
There are billions that change hands on any given event... but it would be hard to get to the coach, players who are proud athletes who play for the fairness of sport.

Just look at tonight game Lakers vs Celtics. Then Kome gets the MVP. OMG I am so done with sports. What is the point if the refs only allow certain teams to make it and screw the rest?

This is hardly a conspiracy, just use common sense. Anytime there is money being waged over a sport or competition of some sort, there will be those behind the scenes that make sure things go a certain way. I am not suggesting that players collectively decide to fix a game, but certainly officiating can lean a certain way. I used to watch sports with my dad all the time, he would bet 50 to 100 dollars per football game every sunday and regularly call into a bookie. Just look in the newspapers, they have a section called the Vegas Line. Do you think they dont wanna cover their bottom end? They've been doing this stuff for years...how many people you know put one coin in a slot machine and won? Just an example

Did not ref Spurs Lakers series odd maybe because of Kobe rape Job was asked to hide until results league image etc...

If he was the ref 3 times this series Lakers would have lost.. Stern knows Lakers winning would be the bigger story so he brought Crawford where rigging happens lol

That just reeks of the Lakers getting the cake handed to them.
