I don't hate Bush, I don't think he's evil, but I can't speak for many people who may.

The media rarely reports good happenings anyway, but I'll praise Bush if I see something worth praising. But it really doesn't matter about praise, I am just on the opposite side of the spectrum, opposed to him. All this 'hatespeak' if you will about the internet and wherever doesn't seem to amount to much anyhow. Maybe I'm a little fustrated that it doesn't.

Look there is no such thing in this world as a successful or powerful person that is not beholden to somebody else. Too bad but its a fact of life.

America may vote for Kerry but he is also a bonesman. He is also wealthy. He is also isolated from the people that he is supposed to understand, the voter. He is also under control of the REAL power brokers. But tell me if I am wrong, a lot of people around here will never see those faults in him nor will they ever complain. Many of those same people are not even experienced enough in life to know that most of what he is saying and promising is bull#. All they know is what their teacher tells them. Then there is the die hard socialists, the unionists or people with some soft government job somewhere. These people I dislike more, they are paid a premium for their 'labours' and offered 'security' often paid for my people worse off than themselves...but they are socialists dammit!

Are the rich better? No but I never met a rich man that hated hard working and ambitious people that could care about something bigger than themselves.

I'm sorry our government let you and America down! It's a damm shame, indeed. The Bush administration has abused our military - ironically - even more than Klinton did - on a much larger scale. Our military is made up of fine, dedicated people - like Cearball - and they should be treated with the highest respect for what they do/done. Military life ain't always so easy.

I hope you're able to look back with some fondness and much pride for what you accomplished and experienced. It's something burned into you and you'll never forget. Learn from it. Apply that experience to every endeavor and know - there's nothing you can't do if you set your mind to it!

People's perceptions are started at a distance of an arms length.
The 'hate' that has some in hyper mode is warranted based on their perceptions and those perceptions are based on experience. That the families of those soldiers, whose bodies will never be whole again because of a bomb or worse, don't get the media face time like a preordained pep rally in support of, does not mean they are not out there in large numbers.

Well, alright then Cear. So, you don't want to serve him any longer, but like I said, it is not your responsibility as a soldier to A) Like the orders B) Respect the orders C) Agree with the orders. You are obliged to none of these - that is not your role. A soldier fights where he/she is told to fight, and goes where they are told to go, that is all.

What you should do, as I see it as it is right now, is, serve for the rest of the time you are supposed to serve, (there is an amount), then get out as soon as you can. However, you signed up and, when you signed up, agreed to fight and serve for the United States of America, and for that agreement, you should honor it. Since you are bound, you made the agreement willingly, you should respectfully serve the rest of the time needed with the USAF. When your out, don't worry about it any longer.

Simple as that, serve the rest of your time, and be done with it. No need to agree, like, or respect it. Just get it done, its your feelings, no one can touch that.

Cearball willingly joined. And had faith in his chain of command. He's walked through it. And now his views have changed. He has shown growth. That's always good.

It's true that when you are in uniform, you have no say in what you do or where you're sent. That's the faustian bargain. The military LOVES the young 'cause they don't have the experience and world-view to know any better than what they're told. And most of them are unswervingly patriotic. (Or, extremely naive, some would say.) On top of that they indoctrinate the hell out of recruits. I mean to the point of making a soldier hate someone he/she didn't know existed a few months earlier. I suppose it has to be that way to effectively train an army. The way of the world.

Thank God, tho, for those who are able to still think for themselves at the end of the day. To be able to discern propaganda from the truth. Cearball's experience is excellent and it will serve him well.

Now, he has every right to be mad as hell and to get out. It may even save his life. I just hope he uses his experience to help others understand what the military is like. If you havn't been there, you have no concept of the culture and demands.

Hard to beleive .. i know that but i reached a point in my life some years ago where i forgave even those who would seek to put this body in the grave.......love thy enemy...i never claim to be a christian...but how many supposed christians do you know of that can live up to even that one single teaching of the Christ?....i dont hate George and i dont hate Osama.... it is mans igonrance which in part is due to the triply delusive screen of illusion and the three gunas which obstruct us from the sole reality of god
there is no politician or lawyer or anyone that is free from this unless that person is a true saint or one of the great masters

Those are nice ideas, but for some of us, if all can not be like that, then none can.

I would love to love my neighbor, and for the most part I do, but love is the easiest emotion to convert to hate. The levels usually convert the same from one to the other.

At this point in my life, I don't hate anyone. It takes too much energy to hate.

Seekerof, after we came home from the Gulf War they began the drawdown. Remember? Many, many people took early outs from officers to privates. It's nuthin' unusual. A lot of companies were offering the troops bigtime jobs and the Army was offering bigtime buyouts.

To anyone who thinks Cearbhall's decision to leave early is dishonorable: That's nonsense. I knew a lot of honorable people who were ready for something new and better, so they took the money ran. To him, I say best 'o' luck.
