Yes. Perhaps they want to share their findings with everyone? That way astronomers know that there's an extension to the solar system. Science, rational thought, the usual dull stuff. Could that be ever so slightly plausible?

Please change the thread title. The writer of that news article is extremely irresponsible for suggesting that this Planet X has been discovered, when it quite clearly hasn't.

Any who I thought planet X can refer to any postulated but as yet undiscovered planet? no? Bit like situation X could be zombie attack or mother in law coming over - how would you react in a given situation (actually I believe the actions for those two scenarios are very similar - both require damaging the brain stem... it's the only way to stop em!)

They're saying IF there's a planet X, it will likely be found soon. Not that there is one.

The quote above is the title of this thread, and also the title of the news article. That suggests that a new planet has been discovered. Since that isn't the case, the title is both misleading and incorrect.

Great find, if the supposed orbit is accurate, then this could very well be the famed Nibiru. Zorgon, given the information you've shown, could you estimate the orbit length? I wouldn't have a clue were to start and I'm not sure how accurate the diagrams are

One more thing, have they managed to see this yet? photographed it? The artist's rendition makes it look barren and lifeless, a common trait these days in photo's of other planets

No. It's a hypothetical planet. No-one knows whether or not it really exists.

Well what would you expect of a planet which is so far from the Sun it's in perpetual night? At it's closest projected point to the Sun it's still twice as far away as Neptune is.

No I haven't taken time yet to look at this discovery closely yet... BUT the orbit they show does NOT bring it close to Earth to wipe us out

No so far its calculations only... though they seem pretty sure... but it will give them a place to look...

Despite what many people say about amateur astronomers should be able to see these things... its not as easy as just looking... you need hours of observation and watch for something in the photos to move... and this photo ability is something very few amateurs can do...
