The Cole deployed to the Middle East back in June 2006 as well.

Kind of a big to do about nothing, IMO.

It's still a warship, going where it is needed. You don't stop sending ships because they were attacked somewhere. The Cole and her sisters are very capable ships that are needed to protect other ships.

This is just a normal fleet rotation as Aegis Arleigh Burke class destroyers are a normal contingent of a carrier group usually 2 or 3 are employed, as there are said carrier groups are in the Persian Gulf. There is usually a rotation of the ships in the carrier groups for R & R, refit and runs ashore.
