The Internet is a fad, like Vaudeville, or television. In a hundred years or so, maybe more, clever technicians will have figured out a way to pump
images directly into your brain in full surround sound, 3-D, and with all the associated sensory input intact and better than in real life. At that
point, we will either choose to exist in the outside reality, or live our lives in virtual worlds, only coming out once in a while to take care of our
physical bodies. Good-bye space program, since real planets are going to seem pretty boring compared to the fantastic adventures in virtual reality.
We're always trying to change the world to our own purposes, whether through drugs or industry. Eventually we'll be able to have complete control.
It'll probably mean the end of us.
So long, Internet!
