At least six people were injured in an explosion at a small strip mall in the Chicago suburb of Waukegan, and authorities were searching the rubble for anyone who may be trapped, a witness said, quoting Waukegan police.


An explosion was reported at a shopping plaza in Waukegan, Illinois, on Thursday.

The Associated Press, also quoting police, said at least six people were injured. Nick Alajakis of the Lake County News-Sun said police told him five people were taken to a hospital. Their conditions weren't known.

The cause of the explosion is unkn
