Well, this is interesting. I felt it here in Sheffield, and according to someone who posted in the Quake watch thread, it was noticed in manchester too.

Nothing on BGS earthquakes yet, at least I can't get a connection, maybe server overload.

No idea. I filled in the felt quake form on USGS, according to that I felt it at intensity of about II.

I wish I hadn't been asleep at the time, but until this happened, I had no reason to be up.

I woke up, and I thought it was a poltergeist or an amazingly realistic nightmare, it SCARED THE HELL OUT OF ME!

4.7, eh? Seems a bit odd to me, that earthquake in Iran, now this?

4.7?

Californians sleep through those, just wait till you have a 7.1 or greater.

There was a theory somewhere about too much wwater in the ground providing extra lubrication for ground movement I think?

Wasn't 4.7 also the measurement of the North Korea nuke test, or did I dream that!?

LOL yeah, but UK people are known for not feeling a earth quake in their entire lives.

I still haven't

Sky News reporting tremors felt from London to North Yorks and Cheshire across to Norfolk.

Didn't feel a thing.
Still, North East is always behind the rest of the country!

Yeah, but we here in the UK are a daft lot, who seem incapable of coping with a 4.7, or about 1 inch of snow without cities shutting down, massive infrastructure disruption(mainly with snow) and general panic. Maybe thats the real reason we don't have guns anymore, since a slightly irritating natural phenomena comes along and everyone runs around screaming.

In London here, I also didn't feel a thing, but on the other thread they are saying some people in London have felt it, but I didn't feel anything in my area.

Hi everyone...I felt it too...my god, my heart was in my mouth!!
It started as a slight rumble that gradually got louder, thought the
house was about to come down, I am living in Ilkeston near Derby.

Just sat there about as inocent as I can be with my Airedale, writing
an email then suddenly thought...damn noisy neighbour but shortly
afterwards common sense began to sink in... thought she'd learned
some new techniques.

I'm glad it was just an earthquake, thought I was about to encounter
some demon from the 5th dimension or George W Bush had targeted
my house or something.

stop the world I want to get off.

I was playing EVE online and someone jumped off in the middle of something important in game. He told me had to go b/c there was an earthquake in Nottingham and he said his family was freaked out. I refused to believe him so the first thing I did was jumped to ATS to see if it was true
SURE ENOUGH!
