North Korea tunes in to New York Philharmonic

PYONGYANG (Reuters) - The United States' oldest symphony orchestra played an unprecedented concert on Tuesday in hermit North Korea that both sides say they hope will bring a little harmony to relations between the bitter Cold War foes.

North Korea's solitary television station broadcast the whole concert live to a population taught to view all things foreign with deep suspicion -- especially if they come from the United States, officially their darkest enemy.

What a great day for peace this is. This may just be what breaks open good productive talks between the United States and North Korea.

Music is a universal language. It can inspire peace where mere words fail. I personally loved the idea of this small bit of diplomacy.
