Dell Foundation gives $5M to create Dallas schools student database

The money will create a mega-database of student academic information and other district-related data that will be continuously updated, officials said. It will allow educators to watch for learning patterns and keep closer track of the district's 158,000-plus students, they said.

Tracking academic performance to spot weaknesses is a goal under DISD's ambitious Dallas Achieves reform plan to improve student achievement. The new system is expected to provide a "one-stop shop" for educators to assess students.


One-stop shop. Sound familiar?

You know, some things just look better on paper. Like paper trails for voting machines and paper trails for students. I mean really, let's help keep honest people honest.

There's 158,000 more chances that student records can be tampered with for agendas, if that is not already happening with their current system. I don't like this one bit. And what ever happened to parents determining what the child "really and truly needs?"

Continuously updated, eh? Just like Presidential Directives? Yeah, nice.
