French prosecutors are looking into alleged multi-million dollar transfers into the bank accounts of the wife of Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat.
Officials have confirmed reports of an inquiry into the financial transactions of Paris-based Suha Arafat.
They acted after the Bank of France alerted them to transfers of nine million euros ($11.5m) from Switzerland to two of Mrs Arafat's accounts.

This is pretty disturbing news for anyone connected with funding the Palestinians. There have long been accusations of corruption against Arafat and
this seems to be pretty damning. Arafat is thought to have salted away between $US300 million and $US1.3 billion in bank accounts worldwide by
allegedly plundering aid money sent to prop up the battered West Bank and Gaza economy. The IMF has already accused him of diverting $900 million in
public funds into his own bank account.
With poverty in Palestine always top of the UN agenda it's pretty disgraceful that the figurehead for freedom is squirreling away cash in overseas
bank accounts.
The question is whether the money was embezzled or wether it was donated to Arafat personally. Either way, it looks like a very shady transaction.

Mrs Arafat recieves a stipend of $100,000 a month!!! I wonder how many other Palestinian women have a bank account let alone access to such wealth?
