Taliban Demand Night-Time Cell Tower Shutdown

www.freshnews.org

Reports out of Afghanistan say that the Taliban have threatened attacks on mobile phone companies unless "signals" are "stopped" at night. Reportedly the hardline Islamic militia believes that cell towers are being used to locate and track Taliban gunmen.

The BBC quotes Taliban spokesman Zabiullah Mujaheed as saying: "If those companies do not stop their signal within three days, the Taleban will target their towers and their offices." Reportedly the demand is for the "signal" to be cut off from 5pm to 3am local time.

Haha,

Maybe if they didn't use a public network to communicate, they wouldn't be so easy to track. You don't see any other fighting force using a public telephony network to co-ordinate it's forces, not without expecting it to be compromised.

If this is true, I've never heard anything so stupid. You mean to say that the 'NUMBER 1!' terrorist network is using a public and very traceable service?? Uh..

I say $%&# the Taliban. What a bunch of whiny babies. Too bad the US built them up to fight the Soviets.
