Yeah, notice the symbolism on the face of the "Amero?"

The most obvious being; the figure is holding the world in one hand, a spear in the other, whilst sitting on liberty.

Pretty funny, no?

That's pretty flagrant sick symbolism there eh? The sun setting while she sits on liberty with her spear in hand.

I believe the changes in the good ole American 'Greenback' have little to do with counterfeiting. It may have a great deal to do with getting Americans gradually accustom to money that looks more like the Euro. If the Amero is going to be Americas economic salvation, it will need to reflect the color and tone of all three paper currencies.
I have often thought that now would be an excellent time to engage in counterfeiting.
I pulled a pack of older $20s out of the safe.During my transaction the girl held it up to see the watermark. There was none, which gave her pause. I believe there are at least three different looking $20s in circulation.
If anyone recalls years ago, the SS referenced something they called the SUPER hundred. Only a few nations had the ability to produce these and I would suggest they could easily circumvent the current crop of fiat money. As I am sure most are aware the amount of counterfeit money required to devalue our currency would have to be of such enormous amounts that it would be beyond the scope of most. Although I think the Federal Reserve pretty much has a lock on the whole devaluation thing.

I honestly cannot believe some of the reactions to software having copying protection in them. This is just the latest in a long line of people over reacting to something thats not a big deal and yet another step I take away from ATS

The North Koreans were supposed to have all of the necessary equipment to print the USA's newest USD$100.00 bill.

I suspect one would find the same set up in Shaghai and Hong Kong.

Perhaps the use of dollar bills at casinos should all take place under UV light. (Would kill a lot of germs too.)

I especially noticed the lightning bolts in the talons of the eagle. Could one have a clearer Nazi symbol?

The man who designed the Amero "phantasy" coins is an extraordinary talent as well as critic of what is happening.

He does have it correctly stated as well: the plan is for "The Union of North America" not "North American Union". Many times when governmental officials deny the plans for the NAU, it is because they know that isn't the name for it -- so their denial is based upon a technicality.

U.S. Americans will still be able to chant at sporting events "U-N-A! U-N-A!" And the intials can easily be put into French and Spanish for use in the French and Spanish-speaking parts of North America.

The greatest irony to me is the proposal of the "Circle A" as the symbol for the Amero when it is the universal symbol for anarchy!

Lincoln and every other "dead president" or historical figure enshrined upon Federal Reserve notes and coinage, would, in all likelihood, be abjectly appalled at having their likenesses and values disrespected in such a cynical manner.

I guess this begs the question of when does something become illegal and when should such action be taken to stop a crime.

We're turning into a very pre-emptive society. So much so, that we're engaged in a war with Iraq for Pre-emptive measures.

Question: Is it against the law to copy currency? Or is that copy only illegal when you try to present it as actual currency?

If someone were to print a million copies of the $1.00 bill and stuff their mattress with it, has a crime been committed? Obviously, a crime is committed if they take those on million copies and try to use them to buy something.

Continuing to lay ground work for pre-emptive strikes against potential crimes and potential criminals is a VERY dangerous path to continue on. Unfortunately, as is eveident in this thread, too many people eagerly go along with it. However, one day, those same people may very well find themselves at the wrong end of some future pre-emptive strike themselves simply becuase we've colelctively allowed such freedoms to erode into the past.

No doubt lines have to be drawn & in some instances they are already crossing the line. In this case people can still print money if they desire, it just not as easy. Bottom line they have always made the paper they print money with hard to come by as well as the ink - de-tuning the printers is just an extension of that.

It's not as if they're marketing printers that will print money and then when you accept delivery they're busting you for buying it.

i am surprised small companies dont go after the govt for money after they change the looks of bills.

for instance alot of your change machines and soda/snack machines no longer work with newer bills, i can only imagine the cost for some of these companies having to upgrade thier equipment to accept these new bills.

the newer ten dollar bill cannot be accepted into any change machine or food/drink machine were i work i always have to find someone to break it for me.

You think that looks like monopoly money? You should come up to Canada and see our bills, they put yours to shame lol. But seriously, theres really almost no way of counterfitting our bills. I you ask me, it's never enough.

And that's why you're wrong. Having all your money the same colour and size makes no sense. The changes are simply bringing the US dollar up-to-date with the more sensible notes out there. Most countries' notes are different colours and sizes, which helps people who can't read or who have bad eyesight, as they know "blue = 5", "red = 50", etc.

It's amazing people come up with this stuff and believe it. Paranoid much?

Hey there, I been a longtime lurker of this site and this thread had caught my eye.

Now I am not sure how relevant this comment will be but its interesting none the less.

My dad told the story of what the Italian mafia did with the old 1 dollar greenbacks, they would bleach them until the coloring is gone and you get the blank sheets, and they would use the printing plates and whatnot to print $100 dollar bills, what was funny is that it took the authorities so long to figure out what was going on because obviously the texture and the prints were so perfect.

Here in Canada we don't hear too many stories of counterfeiting its more marijuana grow ops.

I don't find anything about automatic patterns on the official release about the new 5 located here.

Where did the site you link to get that information from?

Let me put it this way. Off the top of my head, I think around 1980 there was the creation of the ECU (European Currency Unit) as an artificial currency, a composite of national currencies in the new European Monetary System. That being said, If one is familiar with the concept of the NAU or Union of the Americas, I do not believe it is paranoid to consider the same currency template being utilized here. That is about as simple and condensed as I can be. I did not post to debate the issue but to offer an opinion.

cant believe how americans cry when they get their greenbacks changed a bit to stay ahead of the criminals, comeon, you need more coins like us stupid canadians, hell a dollar coin, even a 2 dollar coin, and maybe one day even a 5 dollar coin, We gonna need some of them hemo jeans to hold that kind of heavy change. Think your new 5 looks kinda cool, good design.
