Don't forget that if it all goes tits-up EMP-wise we'll have no t'internet...what would we adopt as a call-sign for radio or ID for wall-graffiti
to let others ATSers know where to meet?

Northern cambridgeshire here. (Personally, i think it's a tad irresponsible to post exact locations, call it paranoia if you will )
Was thinking of possible escape routes if the worst comes to the worst, seeing as there's quite a bit of fields and fens near where i live was
thinking that it's easy enough to avoid populated areas. Get the police 'copters over frequently though so that'd be a challenge if martial comes
into force. Thought with recent events etc i'd better start getting a plan together. So, here are prelimary ideas for those who know the area i'd
appreciate help.
1. Head for the coast, and get out of the country.
2. Head north, to scotland etc.
Immediate problems would be raiders/looters and food, however. Know for sure that i'd like to get out of the country if at all possible. Advice
please

hello !
How is it going? I would still like to ask some links/info about the "ideal" survival pack. Of course, it should be light enough to be carried on
the back.
Also , just for "fun" : what if we will set-up a camp this summer ? we could have some good time while sharing our ideeas

sounds like a cool idea.
im still researching survival kit.
A camp would be awesome we could discuss ideas and take various peices of kit. homemade and purchased and finalise what the ATS uk survival kit basics
should be.
also would be cool to meet like minded individuals.
Please be patient with me and any help organising this team would be greatly appreciated.
regards

All this talk of a survival kit....
What's wrong with just a plain backpack with supplies? Sure you can buy a ready made pack, but I think it would just be over priced. Around where I
live there a quite a few army surplus stores - a great place to find supplies, cheap.
There is really no need in my opinion to spend a fortune on survival.

I agree ! However, the question is : what items should go in the survival bag? Do I need my laptop + solar panels to recharge batteries?

This is why I'm not gonna try to survive with you lot. Some of you just haven't got you priorities right. Why would you need a laptop, the extra
weight it and the solar panels brings could potentially kill you.

Hi, I’m around the London area and having read this I have a few points to raise:
Firstly depending on the type of situation X I would like to propose Watford as a meeting place for UK survivalists if the SHTF.
maps.google.co.uk...,+UK&sa=X&oi=map&ct=title
en.wikipedia.org...
My reasons are as follows:
Good links into London: Watford is on the end of the Metropolitan line, it is just inside the M25 so it has good links around London and sits on or
right next to the major motorways leading north of London.
It has good potential for raiding due to these links, If London has been affected by a situation X chances are you would not want to meet there but
could go on gun, food, supply raids into London. And if London is a write off it would act as a good transit point for people moving North or people
moving south.
As well it has the potential to act as a staging area to restore order, if a government need to be restored it needs the infrastructure of London and
a secure Location to begin planning to retake London or indeed move the government elsewhere.
On a smaller scale due to its easy access it has the potential as a meeting point for a small band of survivalists to meet, stock up without the risk
of going into a major urban area, and prepare for their next move.
Finally it is surrounded by green belt land which is useful for hiding or digging in from an enemy, while still allowing potential raids into urban
areas.
Just to add I do not live in Watford but know the area as I have been there a few times and it looks to be a good bet for a meeting location.
P.S all this is dependent on the type of situation X.
P.P.S There are other reasons for Watford as a choice which I am not willing to discuss on a public site but suffice to say the extra reasons would
increase our chances of survival fairly reasonably on top of what I have already mentioned.

Maybe high ground is what we'll need in a situation X. Watford (allthough rather local for me) Isn't that high up. The highest town in England,is
Buxton in Derbyshire. There is also a village,Flag, nearby which is higher still. Lots of open countryside around with hills, there must be a few good
places to set up a camp round there.
With reguards to survival packs,I guess it's all about how much preperation time we'll have. If we start getting non perrishables now, like radio
kit, battery packs, solar chargers, compass and maps ect. Then other items can be bought nearer to the time. Also,I was thinking on books of what we can
eat in our countryside could come in useful.
And if you're looking at placves close(ish) to london, then there's always the chiltern hills. Lots of places round there to camp out. (tripped out
up there a few times meself)
Anyway, sod the survival kit, who's bringing the generator and the sound system!!

A sound idea, however I think the following would be a better way to plan.
rather than just have one big meeting point, split the country up into sectors and have each sector have its own group, each group can then act as an
independent cell if needed in any sitX.
If each group arranged say 3 possible locations in their sector there would be a better chance of each group meeting up (and say two back up meeting
points in neighbouring sectors).
We could then arrange to say that after any SitX try to get to cross-group meeting points every full moon to allow for trading of items/info etc,
these cross group meeting points will obviously be arrange before hand.
Each individual will have to memorise maybe 6 meetings points at most.
If we split the country into 8 sectors, that allows us to designate 26 meeting points (labeled alpha to zeta) and have 3 meeting points per sector and
two for extra for larger sectors say Scotland where distances are a big issue.
Doing it this way means coms will only ever talk about Alpha or Delta meeting points - which would not alert people over hearing specifics should the
need arise.

Hey all, I'm new to posting but been reading the forum for a long long time. I live on south coast and am interested.
I dont have any real survival skills, I'm only just out of my teens, but I can certainly read a map and have a composed, intelligent, sensible
mind.
While mulling over which way to head, I'm sort of thinking across the channel into mainland europe. Reason? I think if SitX did occur, London would
probably be the place. Also, the further north you head, the more difficult I thiink it would be to get the hell out if needs be.
The highlands of Scotland are great but how are you going to escape from there? Unless you just hide up. Down south, you have various methods... the
channel tunnel and the ferries at dover and folkestone, moving along you have the ports of southampton and portsmouth and even falmer and bournemouth
and poole further along.
As soon as we get over to france, we can track east through germany and further east into russia. I know the conditions arent great, its very cold,
but its also barren and would be fairly easy to find a place safe and remote enough to hole up until the situation settles down a bit.

Eorope could be good, head for some mountains. But in a SitX,there may well be no transport links in this country, let alone inter country travel. And
you won't want to be near the sea if it's a comet hitting us! Higher you are,the safer you are in my book. (Physically and mentally )

Interesting thread.
I have no idea what me and my family would do if something happens!
I often thought about taking off just down the road to my Mothers place as she has a huge underground RAF base(dissused) virtually in her backgarden!
I know it can still be accsessed(a local farmer owns the land now),plus my mother has extensive knowledge of the layout inside,as she used to work
there in a civilian post.
She says it used to take ages to get down in the lift, and when she got down it was so deep that she could see her breath mist with the cold!
Also i am sitting beside the largest northsea fishing fleet in Britain,so if we had to get out of the country,i am sure i could get us onto a boat.

Wouldn't it be better to go with regional survival teams rather than the whole of the country? Travelling might be alot harder than you think in
SitX.

Put me on your list please!
I have started collecting a basic survival kit and I have been researching on the net regarding survival tips and hunting.
I have quite a good knowledge of medical issues and i'm very practically minded. I don't mind getting my hands dirty or breaking a nail
I'm in Buckinghamshire, south England.
Nice to meet you
