Ok I'm looking to put together an ATS survival team from the UK for if and when the proverbial hits the fan.
Im seeking out like minded individuals to help put a plan together, meeting place, basic ration kits and survival equipment.
We will gather intelligence regarding best place to meet and sort out all details on this thread.

Thanks! Even if nothing would happen by 2012 , I guess we could have a great time with out-door camps , group talks and so on. I am not English
-native but I will be around for 2012 as I plan to continue my education in the UK. Maybe you should create a Yahoo group as it would make it easier
to communicate and post materials - just let me know when you have news !
Regards
Sty

Hopefully enough Brits will take this opputunity to unite regardless of creed and religion to ensure we survive....
I'd like to think that friendships and a close knit community could be built from this and that we would all have a coomon goal and meeting point if
the worst did happen!

Hi Ian/sty,
I am a Brit and I am too preparing for the rough times ahead; I have got myself a kit together and would be happy to post a list of all the stuff I
have gathered. The beauty of it is that most of the stuff will fit in one rucksack but can also be split into 2 or 3 different rucksacks so that if
one bag is lost you don’t lose all the kit. There is obviously bits you keep on yourself all the time i.e. fire striker and knife. The bag has cost
me a little over a hundred pounds but for a piece of mind I think that is relatively cheap as my rucksack is tucked out the way so that if needs be I
can just grab it and go; if not then it takes up no room and most of it can be used for camping.
I also have a few ideas of the best places to go when the proverbial hits the fan which I would also be happy to share with you but obviously until
things happen there is no point deciding on one particular place to meet as that place might not turn out to be the best place to be at that time but
there is no harm in having a couple of places decided on; keep the plan fluid so that it is easier to change as the situation dictates.
Another good idea is once you have come up with a route to take you out of where ever you live or the destination you are first going to go is to bury
a few bits along said route as if you live in a city and something happens to that city and you are not there at the time it is going to be near
impossible to go back and collect your rucksack so a few buried items could be the difference between life and death.
I have more so let me know if you would like to know more.
Peace.
P.S. I think we are very lucky in Britain as we have many options; for one we could consider ourselves trapped being that Britain is a small island
but never forget the Euro tunnel as if there are no boats available then we just walk through the tunnel and hey presto into Europe we go.

Hello!
I'm not British, but I live in Southeast England. Looks like I am going to be here for a while too. I am interetsed in talking more about this and
more importantly ACTING on it. I've worried that being in England, especially the southeast, makes survivla in most sitx type events unlikely, that
being said I still prepare myself.
My informal plan has always been to make it to Switzerland, somehow. The Swiss are more prepared then most countries and I'm Swiss, so I'm hoping
they'll let me into the shelter..*smiles*
My SO reckons Wales or extreme Northern Scotland.
Anyway would love to informally share tips, ideas and such. I'll be watching this post carefully.

I've got very little in terms of survival field gear at my disposal, but plenty of tools and engineering-ingenuity to add to the team...count me in

Welcome everyone! I suggest we should start by making an estimation: What do we have to expect as possible event ? then , I would appreciate any
sugestion on the survival kit . Then - we should find a best location for survival , or more locations .
I am also an enginner (Aerospace) so hopefully my skills would help a bit. However, I am bad on survival skills as I hadly went camping in my life
I also plan to buy 2 quad bikes by 2012 - so I wonder if quad bikes are the best way for transport in emergency situations . As I see in the UK -
even a small even would turn streets into huge parking sites , so a quad bike seems to be the best option the money can buy..
Awaiting more feedback from all of you + thanks again

STY
I have a bicycle. It uses the readily available form of power - pedal power!
As far as what to expect? Well there are of course many different scenarios. I don't know what to expect, and I think that is the point. Expect the
unexpected.
I am building my own survival kit. A back pack with some essentials basically as I do not feel that I could possibly survive any sitx event where I am
presently located. So I would have to be mobile. For that I have a good sturdy bicycle a well packed back pack and a body which I am getting into
better shape as the days go by.
What do I have to offer? Well, I am teaching myself herbalism, I am nominally trained in first aid, I can kill and dress an animal for food, I can be
damn cold blooded if I have to be, and to ensure my and mine's survival I will be.

You are right regarding the transport : a normal bike would be more flexible , so i should get in shape too
Your skills are very good , I guess you (and yours) would have good chances of survival indeed. As possible scenarios : the worst would be nuclear
doomsday as all the possible food could be contaminated or 6000 ft tsunami .. both scenarios would point to an underground shelter. Maybe an area with
caves would be great then!

Good ta know a fellow spanner Sty!
I'm very much trained in the art of shed-engineering, the closest I've got to aeronautics is building free-flight balsa models...am currently in in
my final year of an architechture degree so can be of plenty of use building bunkers and shelters
The strengths I can offer the team are:
Ingenuity in use of materials
Engineering/Tinkering skills
Inner-city/urban survival skills
Construction
Advanced 1st aid Cert.
Sheer bloody-mindedness
...and most of all, ability to brew the best cup of tea EVER!
Forget the US gun/archery forums...arm yourselves with a Barnett slingshot or two and plenty of spare elastics

Good-luck with your little tea-party, fellas.
I might come and join you after i take out the trash in my local neighbourhood when they try and lord it over the place.
edit; NE here btw - i could probably work a ship or something if ya'll would kindly give me a hand in the engine room.
p.s; that means naval artillery, for those of you who don't know much about boats.
Naturally, we'd have to go take one first lol.
But seriously, if i get my hands on a ship and sea charts you'd have a helluva time hunting me down.

NW Lancashire here folks with a pocket SAS survival guide and plenty of camping experience
Ive had this on my mind for a while - what things would you need if doomsday event happend?
Ive been thinking of getting a canoe, I think it would be a handy peice of kit.
Ok now talking of places to go Im in Lancaster so I have the Lake district just 30mins north, but please cast your eyes on here
maps.google.co.uk...
Its the vast un-used land left of lancaster owned by the duke of westminster i think, even david Ike says theres something fish about it.
so if anything happens in october im heading up there, the veiw are unbeatable and i know a nice lil spot for mushrooms that time of year.
