Iran nuclear concerns linger, IAEA report finds

BOULDER, Colo. -- A report released today by the U.N's nuclear watchdog agency says Iran has largely answered questions about the history of its nuclear program, except for a weaponization issue that leaves serious concern about Iran's current potential to assemble a nuclear weapon.

The report by the Vienna-based International Atomic Energy Agency will not be enough to stop new sanctions against Iran now being considered by the Security Council, but the new sanctions will probably not stop Iran from enriching uranium, diplomats say. Iran has continued to defy earlier resolutions demanding a halt to the process, which can be used to produce energy, but also material for a nuclear weapon if enriched to much higher grades.
