As the murky, quasi-legal staging of the Bush Administration's military commissions unfolds, a key official has told The Nation that the trials are rigged from the start. According to Col. Morris Davis, former chief prosecutor for Guantánamo's military commissions, the process has been manipulated by Administration appointees in an attempt to foreclose the possibility of acquittal.

This is a bit of a long read but quite intriguing. It demonstrates the opinion that these Gitmo trials are just for political purposes and not for gaining anything on a war on terror effort. The fact that prisoners can be held until all hostilities have ended, which seems never ending, proves that they are never gonna leave if GW has anything to say about it. So why have the trials if there is no possibility of acquittal? it also seems that others have stated that the trials were going to be rigged. Is there anything that this administration can do that is legal and by the books or do they continually have to write the rules to serve their own agenda and will the new administration continue down this path or actually bring change for the people?
