apparently this is the original source of this info:

Got this on my gmail today:

"Thank you for contacting The Coca-Cola Company regarding a possible association with the Church of Scientology.

As an enterprise conducting business in more than 200 countries, The Coca-Cola Company respects diverse cultures and beliefs around the world. However, the Company is not affiliated with any specific religion, including the Church of Scientology.

In regards to the booklet, “The Way to Happiness,” Coca-Cola Pakistan made a donation to the National Office of The Way to Happiness Pakistan in Karachi, Pakistan. This small donation was made with the specific understanding that The Way to Happiness was a Non-Government Organization (NGO), with no religious affiliation, providing non-religious support for the local community, including services for the blind. Coca-Cola Pakistan’s contribution was made with the good faith understanding that the National Office of The Way to Happiness Pakistan provided goods and services -- books, Braille imprints, language translations, etc.— to the needy and handicapped similar to other non-profit organizations active in Pakistan. In soliciting the contribution, The Way to Happiness Pakistan did not indicate an affiliation with the Church of Scientology.

The Coca-Cola Company and Coca-Cola Pakistan will not renew donations for “The Way to Happiness.”

We hope we have addressed your concerns. Please contact us again should you have additional comments or questions."

it sounds like they were duped into donating, but on the same token, it also sounds like they are just trying to pass the buck. either way, like many other people are saying - it's a start.

Also when reading into this a bit more, I came across this youtube video with David Miscavige talking about Scientology having all sorts of corporate sponsorship:

excerpt from the transcript:

Then there’s our corporate tie-ins. The multi-nationals seem to have third world image problems, so this is what they’re doing about it. Coca Cola Pakistan with a braille edition for the blind - nationally televised, no less. Philips Electronics, likewise all over Pakistan, and Dell Computers all over Africa. Then there’s the power of Way to Happiness right in the marketplace. As in the big retail chains, who have an obvious vested interest to cut shoplifting. And when you’re talking frontline retail, you can’t get much bigger than 7-Eleven. So here’s a few of their 4,000 plus outlets across Taiwan.

of course, right after this announcement, lots of the aforementioned companies scrambled to deny any ties and affiliations with Scientology.

link to another article explaining the various companies denial:

www.news.com.au...

A Dell spokesman told the Los Angeles Times that “it's not our practice to disseminate religious materials of any kind”.

“We've got no affiliation with the Church of Scientology,” the Dell spokesman said.

Representatives from Philips and 7/11 also told the Los Angeles Times that their companies did not distribute religious texts.

of course, they only seem to deny passing out text, but not sponsorship. and none are officially ending funding as coca cola has done

You realize that copy/pasting the same thing in every single thread with the word 'scientology' in the title is just making you look ridiculous, right?

If you want to make some valid, lucid arguments to defend your cult, please do! I'm sure many people here would be interested in that debate. Copying the same nonsense over and over is pointless and just reinforces our view.

Holy resurrected long dead thread!

Question for the Scientology spammer:

What do L. Ron Hubbard and Paul Twitchell have in common?

Human trafficking, money laundering, blackmail, wrongful imprisonment, physical/psychological abuse, violation of labor laws, etc etc

It's not a religion. It's a blackmail/tax evasion/money laundering scheme.
