Iran Speeding Up Nuke Plans

BRUSSELS, Belgium (AP) - An exiled Iranian opposition group claimed Wednesday that Tehran was speeding up a program to develop nuclear weapons. "The Iran regime entered a new phase in its nuclear project," said Mohammad Mohaddessin of the Paris-based National Council of Resistance of Iran.

The NCRI is the political wing of the People's Mujahedeen of Iran, which advocates the overthrow of government in Tehran. The Mujahedeen has been designated a terrorist group by the United States and the European Union as well as Iran.

Mohaddessin claimed that Tehran has established a command and research center near a Tehran university. And, he said, Iran is developing a nuclear warhead for use on medium-range missiles at a site on the southeast edge of Tehran. Mohaddessin also claimed that the regime obtained aid from North Korea.

Generally we see them as tards. Why else would they need NK to help. They will probably drop the damn thing off a table and blow their own country up.

They only need to set one off to become the worlds largest heated glass serving bowl with nice outlines of cities baked right in.

iran isn't a threat to anyone. they have never attacked another country in aggression and if they tried to attack israel or the us their country would be turned into glass and they know it. plus they aren't developing nuclear weapons...no matter what neocon sponsored exile groups or israel says. nothing to see here...

Don't be so quick to get your knickers tied up in knots.

Even If Iran were to be so foolish as to Try to develop a nuclear weapon...

They'd still have to test the thing out to see if it worked, before they tried to build more to deploy.

The ONLY way Iran, lacking the super-computer resources of, say, Sandia Labs in the US, could test their new nuke, would be to detonate it!

A nuclear detonation, even underground, would be picked up by monitoring stations around the world; within a week Iran would be bombed into the 4th world.

Not to mention the fact that they would have just blown up their Only nuke!

Furthermore, even IF Iran were able to have successfully developed a nuclear weapon; it takes alot more than a Hadj to adapt that weapon into something that can be launched by a missle.

Where nuclear weapons are concerned, you do not go from drawing board to ICBM over night, and without a lot of trials.

They'd never get a chance.

And don't be too concerned about the "help" Iran might have gotten from North Korea either.

Remember; NK's One And Only "Test" of a supposed "nuclear device" was little more than a "fizzle". Not much of a threat there.

Are you serious? are these words that you really have thought through and truly believe in, that Iranians are vile human garbage? Iranians are decent human beings who's lives have value, just like the Iraqi's and Afghanis and AMERICANS who are caught up in this whole sheeshstorm. Why should the majority suffer because of the foul words of a few.

I am not so sure that Iran would need to test their nuclear weapons before they used one. If they have bomb plans from somewhere else, like Pakistan, they would already be using a proven, tested design. Also, some bomb designs are so simple that they don't really need to be tested. The Hiroshima bomb was a "gun type" uranium bomb that had never been tested. The very first nuclear bomb tested at the Trinity site was a plutonium "implosion type" bomb. Implosion bombs are much more complicated and difficult to make.

As for a delivery system, all Iran really needs is a truck and some suicidal lunatic to drive it. I fully expect that Iran would use a nuclear weapon for a terrorist type attack rather than anything direct and obvious. Iran would certainly be bombed into glass if they overtly used a nuclear weapon on somebody. But if a nuclear weapon was somehow slipped into Los Angeles or Tel Aviv in a truck or a cargo container how would we prove that Iran did it? The world would not stand by while we destroyed Iran on circumstantial evidence. That is the danger I see from Iran - not a direct missile attack.

Then consider this ......

That was shortly after Ayatollah Khomeini had seized power in Iran, riding the slogan "Death to America" - and sure enough, the attacks on Americans soon began. In November 1979, a militant Islamic mob took over the U.S. embassy in Tehran, the Iranian capital, and held 52 Americans hostage for the next 444 days.

The rescue team sent to free those hostages in April 1980 suffered eight fatalities, making them the first of militant Islam's many American casualties. Others included:

April 1983: 63 dead at the U.S. embassy in Beirut.
October 1983: 241 dead at the U.S. Marine barracks in Beirut.
December 1983: five dead at the U.S. embassy in Kuwait.
January 1984: the president of the American University of Beirut killed.
April 1984: 18 dead near a U.S. airbase in Spain.
September 1984: 16 dead at the U.S. embassy in Beirut (again).
December 1984: Two dead on a plane hijacked to Tehran.
June 1985: One dead on a plane hijacked to Beirut.
After a let-up, the attacks then restarted: Five and 19 dead in Saudi Arabia in 1995 and 1996, 224 dead at the U.S. embassies in Kenya and Tanzania in August 1998 and 17 dead on the USS Cole in Yemen in October 2000.

Simultaneously, the murderous assault of militant Islam also took place on U.S. soil:

July 1980: an Iranian dissident killed in the Washington, D.C. area.
August 1983: a leader of the Ahmadiyya sect of Islam killed in Canton, Mich.
August 1984: three Indians killed in a suburb of Tacoma, Wash.
September 1986: a doctor killed in Augusta, Ga.
January 1990: an Egyptian freethinker killed in Tucson, Ariz.
November 1990: a Jewish leader killed in New York.
February 1991: an Egyptian Islamist killed in New York.
January 1993: two CIA staff killed outside agency headquarters in Langley, Va.
February 1993: Six people killed at the World Trade Center.
March 1994: an Orthodox Jewish boy killed on the Brooklyn Bridge.
February 1997: a Danish tourist killed on the Empire State building.
October 1999: 217 passengers killed on an EgyptAir flight near New York City.
In all, 800 persons lost their lives in the course of attacks by militant Islam on Americans before September 2001 - more than killed by any other enemy since the Vietnam War. (Further, this listing does not include the dozens more Americans in Israel killed by militant Islamic terrorists.)

So you are saying that the ordinary Iranian people were to blame for all these acts? Im in no doubt that there is a militant islamic movement in Iran, just as there is in Iraq, Saudi Arabia, and the United Kingdom and numerous other countries around the world but you can't just go around setting peoples houses on fire because their dog pooped on your lawn.

What I'm saying is that you cannot brand a whole nation of people Vile human garbage and cherish the thought of bombing the life out of them when there is only a minority of them who are Islamic militants. Bombs can't tell the difference between a child going to the shops and a man who is harbouring hateful thoughts against America.

also, consider this..

Oh dear! Not Daniel Pipes, that rabid pro-Israel nutjob

Seriously, Iran isn't a threat to anyone, unless they are themselves attacked. If we were not playing in their sandbox then there wouldn't be an issue with them would there.

Talk about deja vu, this is exactly what we had in the run up to the Iraqi farce. An exile group claiming Saddam was stockpiling all sorts of "WMD's", in bed with Al Qaida and plotting to kill all our kittens and other such nastiness.

People have very short memories and need to look the parallels

and what's the problem ahmadinejad promising to continue nuclear activities? they are developing peaceful nuclear energy....everyone knows it. everyone knows they aren't developing weapons...the russians, the americans, the germans and the jews all know it...100% fact...on record if you really chose to look around for it.

just because you want to believe the propaganda you are fed doesn't make it true. again, it makes you clueless...

Exactly. The democratically elected Government of Iran (led by Mohammed Mosaddeq ) was overthrown in `53 because of their decision to kick out foreign Oil companies and nationalise their industry.

This was achieved by the CIA/MI6 supporting a coup and installed the Shah, who ruled with an iron fist, supported by his hated secret police, or SAVAK. The Shah was openly supported by the west and allowed the Western companies back into Iran to exploit their oil reserves. After a couple of decades of torment and oppression, the only viable opposition was the clergy, who led the 1979 revolution.

It is hardly surprising that the Iranians are pissed with the West, as it is the USA and the UK who are directly responsible for their very troubled, traumatic recent history.

So, an exiled group dedicated to the overthrow of the Iran government says that the government must be overthrown, before they develope nuclear weapons, which a recent NIE said wouldn't happen.

OK.

If anyone genuinely believes Iran is a serious threat to the United States, I have a couple of large bridges in NYC for sale

Furthermore taking the word of an organization whose avowed goal is the overthrow of the Iranian government as gospel on an issue like this is also ridiculous.

But let's face it, you don't even care if the allegations are true, do you?

You made your motives clear in your first post:

Bush needs to start bombing these vile human garbage soon

The fact that calling someone "clueless" is seen as cause for moderation, while blatant racism and calls for genocide like this are not, also troubles me.

This is the most naive statement since Chamberlain made a deal with Hitler. Do you work for ahmadinejad?

Well when arrmageddon starts I will get a big "I told you so" the problem is no one will be around to get it.
