Fighting to the Music

Topic started on 20-2-2008 @ 11:20 PM by RuneSpider

Right, well I didn't really think this is paranormal or whaever, hope this the righ forum...
When i get into a fight, I go into this zone, and it's like I'm looking out of a high speed camera, every thing's sharp and a little darker than it should be, and I can really remember well what goes on, which is odd for me.
But to me, the really weird thing is I hear music, it's kinda instrumental I guess, it's kinda hard to describe, like someone took music and blurred it a bit.
But it's always in time to the music, and if I follow the beat to it, the deeper I sink, the more I can just follow the music, to the point to where i very nearly don't even have to pay attention anymore, just listen to the music, and follow the beat. As long as I don't disrupt it, I can be fairly impressive, took on a first degree black belt and nearly beat him, but I disrupted the music and lost.
There's two problems that bother me with it though, one is it's almost addictive, I want to just get as far into it as I can. I can control myself, but it's more like it's guiding me, instead of me working with it.
The other thing is I'm not sure where it comes from, and what I'm hearing.

Now I do listen to alot of music, and I like kinda orchestral stuff, but it seems different than what I listen to.

RuneSpider,

Interesting topic hey... I'm not a fighter - far from it, my emotions work overdrive against me, and my physical reactions prevent me to think straight - stopping me from moving correctly at the time that is needed most.

However - I do get like that when I dance, with or without music. I think it has to do with something that you enjoy doing, giving off the proper chemicals, maybe an effect of stimulating seratonin and dopamine, mixed with adrenalin.

The Pineal Gland gives off certain chemicals too, and is activated by the brainstem - fight or flight part of the brain, tells the pineal gland to release certain chemicals to make things more acute, sharp, and speeds up the speed of thought. Well the thought doesn't increase, as thought is instantaneous, its the connection of the mind and brain that is stronger, allows for more firing to represent those thoughts that were created 'ages' ago. Gives the sensation that time has slowed down and you're going quicker.

For example with that, a truck driver and formula 1 sit side by side at the lights. What happens normally is that the Formula 1 driver has got into the truck, but is limited by the vehicles capacity - such as the mind and brain. Mind is the person, the brain the vehicle. You put that truck driver in the formula 1, and it burns rubber. The capacity of the driver is limited by the vehicle - same goes with the mind and brain. So its like injecting some nitrous into the truck to make it go quicker heh.

With dancing, with or without music, it makes me feel in rhythm with my whole body and mind together, only limited by my physical abilities to move. Training - such as fighting, allows for habit and automatic expected reactions. It becomes easier as the thought process now is translated into 'automation' and not having to actually think about what you're going to do as much. Unfortunately, for fighting - i'm so unco-ordinated, that I try through a punch and my leg moves backwards instead.

Hope that helps at all.

PS. Sometimes other aspects is that the air has a clean smell, and at the same time I notice colours are brighter, and my sense of touch and smell are hightened. Happens quite often for no reason

I would try get GrimReaper to try explain it from a fighters point of view, he's quite good at it apparently, it may shed some light on your specific situation

Thx
