In move to keep out terrorist and arms smugglers, Saudi Arabia is building a security wall to filter traffic from Yemen. Saudi Arabia is denying any
similarity with the security wall the Israelis are using to keep out Palestinian terrorist.
Middle East Online Reports
"Yemeni authorities say the barrier is being built in a common grazing area agreed in a June 2000 deal that ended a decades-long territorial dispute
between the two countries.
Saudi Arabia frequently announces arrests and arms seizures along the 1,800-kilometre (1,100-mile) border with Yemen. The kingdom has stepped up the
hunt for Islamist militants blamed for suicide bombings in Riyadh."
While this isn't getting the exposure that the Israel security wall is getting, it's notable that the walls are being built for the same reason.
Countries don't want terrorist sneaking across their borders to commit acts of violence. The Saudi's security wall is planned to extend some 13
miles while the wall in Israel will be about 400 miles long upon completion. The differences in the wall lengths are apparent when you compare the 52
people were killed in bombings in Riyadh last year with over 400 killed in Israel during the last 3 years.
