Really?
I'm not disagreeing, but I really see the Christian Right as a very small part of the voting public and I certainly don't see Christians as a
monolithic political faction.
I do definitely think that Christians will be turned off by the description you provide, but I would hope that many others would be looking for a more
stable personality in the highest office in the land.
Clinton's salvation was that he appealed to the common indiscretions of youth that were nearly universal among boomers.
Yeah, he experimented with pot and if he wasn't a smoker, one might believe that he didn't inhale, although that's the whole point of smoking
pot.
Yes, he was accused of taking sexual advantage of a few women, but the smear campaign against the women and their own behavior made the allegations
questionable, at best.
I'm sure that there is an element of the voter population who would be inspired by "a black coke-head on the down-low in the White House", but I'm
not sure they'd be in a condition to make it to the polls on election day.
I would hope that a vast majority of Americans would find such a prospect horrifying.
That Obama might have done such a thing might appeal to his voter base if and only if, he has repented and changed his sinful ways, which does sound
like something only the Christian right would feel, but we're not talking about the mayor of Zolle, LA, here.
Americans on the whole are a forgiving sort, except for the fringes, but the idea of a philandering, coke-head in the White House during these
critical times should be frightening to all.
