NEW YORK (AP) -- A 39-year-old man with a history of mental problems was arrested Saturday in the vicious slaying of a psychologist attacked in her office with a meat cleaver, police said.

David Tarloff was held in New York City on Saturday. He was arrested in the death of therapist Kathryn Faughey.


David Tarloff of Queens was taken into custody in the morning after investigators matched him with three palm prints found at the bloody crime scene, said Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly.

This was a particular heinous crime...even for NYC. The interesting part of this case was that the NYC Police dept were slowed down during their investigation because of the medical privacy act and patient client priviledge prevented them from going them the Doctors files.

Bottom line is...I'm glad this guy was caught. He was obviously crazy because he went to the office to rob the Doctor so he and his elederly mother could "leave the country....but came away with 90 bucks....not going far on that amount of money!
