Why would they be drugging the victims beforehand? It would be a waste of resources, and would limit their desired 'effect' on the viewers

Yeah and I'm suspicious of the fact FOX news was the one that got the video first? and the the source is unknown? Can you really trust fox news?
I think of it as 'Psychological warfare' used to reach all the people at home.
Not necessarily by the Insurgents either.
If you look back at most of the execution tapes that have mysteriously 'popped up', they have had no real effect on the war effort.
I think they are 'designed' solely for the people at home. The everyday people that may have started to loose sight of the war. These video's could
be the basis for the voice of the people next time a bill/law is waiting to be passed.
