Well you have to back up and look at the overall picture.
The Theater Missile Defense Network, and refusals to accept Russian cooperation in it. That was the beginning.
The attacks on the Russian government over Human Rights and Civil Liberties by the West.
Western sympathy and interference in Georgia, Ukraine and Serbia.
Lastly the EU/NATO support for the secession of Kosovo.
The Russians and their allies feel they are under seige by the West. This is fueling Nationalism and Extremism across the Orthodox Slavic world.
The Russians see a clear lack of cooperation from the West. This has already lead to Anti Western paranoia and movements.
The Russians have had missile exercises off the cost of Spain and France, overflew a US Supercarrier and entered Japanese airpspace recently. These
type of events are going to increase.
Plus you have the US testing its Theater Missile Defense system on one of its failing spy satellites.

. The location Balkans Operation Center isn't in the Balkans. Sorry for the confusion. If anything I'll be deploying to
New Orleans this summer. I appreciate the support though.
