Isn't this just a way for posters to get around the new rules regarding political threads? For instance, this thread:
www.abovetopsecret.com...
seems to violate the new rules of the political forum, but since I posted an alert on it, and it wasn't removed, I assume that it is ok in "breaking
news". I'm truly confused. There is much bashing in the thread above, and no censorship of it. What is really going on?

Seems to me that "old news" IS breaking news if it has not already been posted here. Am I wrong?

Incorrect... Breaking news is news that is no more than 48 hours old. So a story dated 9/12/2008 would not be considered "Breaking" and would have
to be posted in the appropriate regular discussion forum.

OK if you say so. We shall see how that pans out! So who has the dubious distinction of being the "breaking news" police?

OK...but I still see this as being selective, based upon what the MODS deem "breaking" regardless of the 48-hour rule. I shall begin providing
scores of examples if I must! On second thought, I will not, after all, it's your job...not mine

I seriously did a search, but the other article used inaccurate or not generally referenced words and phrases. How do you do this with any speed? I
saw this was very important and time was of the essence.
Thread
I got the alert from Sky And Telescope and posted it ASAP. But I did serch, know a lot about this subject and wanted to inform with some
understanding. The other thread seems to lack such data. I should apologize to them, but it is important this gets out so people don't think
Armageddon is starting and panic others.
Should this post in another place? It's news. Let me know what is appropriate.

I am all for this and this is great and all....but all to often it seem as though it goes unenforced. There was a thread I had started in November
that WAS breaking news only to have someone else create another thread a whole month later on the same subject with the same article and source in the
breaking news forum. I mentioned that it was already posted to no avail and it continued and still is a far as I know.

Despite our best efforts, repeat news articles and articles that are not breaking news do slip through. If it happens again, your best bet would be to
send a U2U to a moderator of the Breaking Alternative News forum, rather than submitting a complaint through the form.

Hi guys.
I just wanted to ask about BBC articles, I posted a thread today here www.abovetopsecret.com...
I copied the exact headline with a quote of the content of the article.
The BBC edited this later in the day including the headline of the story and I recieved a warning from a mod for entering the wrong details.
Is there anyway around this or do I just refrain from positing in future with BBC articles?
I feel a bit hard done by due to the fact that I submitted the story correctly within guidelines.
Thanks.
