The F-35 will be "better" in the A2A role than anything currently flying,

That the same F-35 that won't have A2A software modes until 2015 or thereabouts?

Just wonderin' like.

Is that the same uncorroborated "factoid" (see speculation) that was put to rest weeks ago or thereabouts?

it was only put to rest by you only , everyone else it would seem have taken it on board as criticism of the delays in the programme.

re F35 costs; the problem is that there are many different figures floating around the internet over the real cost of the F35 , from the released US figures to aus/norway/danish figures which are vastly different to the us one - and when partner countries are all saying ` erm , well its costing more than your saying` then there is something up.

the F35 is approaching 2/3rds the cost , according to partner countries, of the F22 - which is quite likely 1 reason AUS are now seriously considering for the F22 as the F35 costs are going upwards - that and i can see the UK again looking at other options if the F136 is cancelled.

it would be useful for AUS to buy the F22 to keep the line open as it would sadly seem thedefence secretary has been bought wholly by the F35 people
