Teeming billions of china, right? Severe overpopulation right? Birth control absolutely necessary, right?
WRONG!
China's never ending birth control is NOT because they have no space. Many attribute the "population problem" to lack of space. Not convinced? Check out some of these population density maps.

As you can see, there IS a heavy population along the coast, however the interior is relatively unpopulated. Chinese people do not move away from each other. Western culture advocates spreading out, but for some reason, it appears that chinese people do not enjoy spreading out. As a result, their cities are overcrowded.

However, the birth control IS working. Look at these two maps.
1967: 1967

1990: 1990

There is a population decrease.

How does this make it a fakeout? Wouldn't it just suggest at best that the chinese dont mind overcrowding. Dont forget lots of that low population area(s) is either deserts, mountians, or what little farmland the chinese try to maintain so they dont ahve to import ALL their food. Think about the US population density 100 years ago or even now, it is very similar except the US has two coasts and somewhere along the lines of 1/4 the population. I wouldnt say it is choice, just the way things work out. Check out population density maps of Japan. Similar, lots of comparitively low density areas, due to natural barriers, but I'm sure they would spread out if they could.
