The Peace of God to all that belong to the light,
Dear readers,
Let me correct some typing mistake, done in one of the paragraphs of the Introductory post of this thread, this to avoid misunderstandings and clarify the actual meaning of it, since it is one of the most important ideas of this message: ( I have underlined the part of the original text that was wrongly written )
Columbia has already lost more human lives that England in the WWII fighting a war almost alone against the lords of drugs, but also has suffered terrible social consequences like the impoverishment of his civil population: the increasing concentration of the wealth in few hands, the internal exodus of more than 3 million people from the regions of more violence to the poor suburbs of the big cities, and the external Diaspora of 5 million people escaping from the country to save their lives.
The Main idea of this post was to Introduce my readers about why It is so important to realize that a nation is not our enemy or our friend forever, that there are many circumstances that affect our relationship with any country and that a very important part of them is the deal that America give to that nation.
Nations are like the common people, they can offer to us benefits but they also need to obtain their own ones in our relationship with them, nobody want to be engaged with a person that is a selfish and wants only to receive but never to give.
This thread is about Columbia, or Colombia for the spanish speakers, but the point is also relevant and meaningful for any other nation like could be Iran, Venezuela, Russia, Germany, Japan, Italy, Spain or Mexico, that in some moment of our History have been considered as potential enemies.
The role that a foreign nation has in our external policy depend not only in the things that are occuring overthere but also in the form in which we think and act with respect to the specific situation of that country. That is probably more determinant that any actual cultural difference to promote friendship or animosity with other cultures or nationalities.
We are in a time of a very grave paranoic negative thinking epidemic spreading in our nation, that is trying to wash our brains with the obsession that America has enemies only because we are surrounded by countries that envy our freedom or democratic style of life, but let me ask ,
have we thought at least once how many times in the History it was our responsibility that a friendly nation suddenly became our opponent?
thanks,
Your friend,
