Could this seed bank be a clue that the world leaders know of a comet or space rock headed our way?

The first specimens — 7,000 seeds from 36 African nations — have shipped to the Svalbard Global Seed Vault, a repository in the Arctic Circle being built to store a safety copy of vital agricultural information, in case disaster should befall us.

In case disaster should befall us!!
Thats kinda scary.

Some of the donors who created this seed bank are listed here.

Would they spend all that money just in case, or do they know something.

When I first read the artical last week the first thing I thought of was that movie 'Deep Impact'. I think the gov. held out a year before telling the public in the movie.

An impact like that is simply a matter of when, not if. It's better to have supplies laid down well before hand, and hope you never use them than to go through what they did in the movie and have to panic and rush everything trying to save what they can at the last minute.
