As I hope is glaringly obvious by now, "ATS" doesn't have a single opinion on any topic. To suggest "ATS says this" or "ATS says that" is to reveal gross ignorance of what ATS is.

There is NO such thing as an "ATS opinion". Each of us decides for ourselves what to believe, and our opinions tend to vary widely.

To assume that all ATSers share the same opinion on any issue is to ignore reality.

We are a community of individuals, not herd animals or camp followers. Don't believe me? Just read any thread on ATS -- including this one -- and the truth will become manifest.

Hmm, didn't read most of the posts but thought I'd mention this. Tecumseh's curse seems to have been broken since Reagan (though he only beat it by a hair). There was no (at least public anyway) attempt or threat against Shrub who would have been the next to be a potential victim to the "elected in a year divisible by 20" curse associated with Tecumseh's curse.

I'd say Obama will probably be the most protected executive in US History. There is a long history of political assasination here in the US and I'm not naive enough to think that there aren't people who wouldn't like to do him in because of his race or some misinfo liberally spread over the past year. Though I will not vote for him, if (and it seems likely he will) he wins he will still be the elected President of the US.

However given the mess that he is going to inherit, his support of policies that will not help (ie the trillion both he and McCain voted to give banks), and the lefts track record of solving economic crisises (I subscribe to the thesis that FDRs socialism prolonged the misery of the GD), martyrdom might be the more preferable to having to deal with this mess rather than being the great half-white hope that ended in failure.

So basically I'm picking up and moving to Mexico to live in the cave o' crystals

Well when you go to vote and across the street are nooses in tree's and no one seems to care you know his odds are not good. Sure I come from a hick town in the north actually but time and time again for the past 10 years I tell people around here their being racist and they argue with me.

Then seeing the voting area um ya I think I'll keep my mouth shut from now on. I may be white but what's to stop them from painting me black in the public hicks eyes for voicing facts.

I didn't actually believe it when a lady I work with told me about it so when I went down sure enough. All I could think was man I hope he has a lot of body guards if he gets elected cause he's gonna need them. I use to be a self proclaimed republican. Not anymore lol...

The man already has full Secret Service protection, he travels in an SUV that may as well be a tank with all the armor and bullet proof glass.

These men he travels with would take a bullet for him and they look pretty serious.



His most vulnerable time will be while campaigning, but that's just about over. Once elected he will be in a protective bubble probably tighter than any President in the history of the US.

I'm betting he will survive and live on to be one of the best and most popular to ever hold the office.

This alone will make Obama a bad choice because in a financial world like today people you don't wanna ask people to pay hundreds of millions of hard earned dollars for the protection of Obama .. Obama's protection will cost a multifold of what the USA is paying for Bush. And he isn't even president now so it will be much higher when he will become. Obama is the worst of all the three choices. His presidentcy will be wrong for global economy , Europe and it will lead to US to be over run by Iran because Obama is willing to talk and not take action sorry but NATO / VN is doing that for decades and it stil not doing what they supose to do..
I don't want Obama in the white house .. and there are more like me.. I hope people will vote against him.. otherwise we will have a civil war on our hands in Europe because people currently making troubles in The Netherlands will say he is one of us don't touch us what do you want and we will have things hapening like past year in Paris ( France ) .. But left winged liberal short minded voters will not stop looking trough there purple glasses seeing happyness and rainbows were things are going badly wrong.

Why hasn't obama been stopped from the election yet, I'm not even from america and I know he's not american born therefore not eligable, what is being done about that?

And yes unfortunately rasicm would probably cause this man to be shot on election day, by CIA or by some crazed white power junkie, or both. We know for a fact that John McCain was born in Panama, and we have pretty good documentation that Barack Obama was born in the state of Hawaii.

The only evidence we have otherwise is an old lady related to Obama that said she witnessed his birth in Nigeria.

McCain is eligible through a loophole because he was born on a US military base considered to be American soil. But try to prove to me that Obama wasn't born on US soil.....

Please try, this could be fun, and I'll provide links to the Constitution with all amendments.

I really feel for him, but the old women I referred to was an aunt, not his grandmother. You should follow the news a bit more to keep up on current events.

This will be a very hard time for the President elect and my heart goes out to his family in this difficult time. It's heartbreaking to see she didn't hang on long enough to see her grandson elected.:shk:

It will all depend. If the power brokers who never intended for Obama to be the nominee decide that this can't be tolerated, he will die in office. Could be an assassination, could be a heart failure. A plane crash, a car crash, or slipping in the bath tub.

You see how much of Kennedy's autopsy/physicians reports/x-rays/photographs remain.

This isn't the 60's dude. We have developed a little since then.
The protection provided to the President is far different than that during JFK being in office.

No more riding around in convertibles, extreme restrictions on all public venues, limited exposure while traveling, and of course the now constant bubble of tight Secret Service whenever out.

He's well protected, but there is always that chance of "One man, One bullet, One vote".
I just hope no one gets the opportunity to take that shot because no single person has the right to decide the future of a nation by an act of violence.

Many of the previous posts show exactly why Obama is a perfectly designed loser. There is a natural association of him with Islam because of his name and his father, whether or not the association is justified. He will not be assassinated because he has zero chance of being nominated, much less elected. He is there to insure Hillary the nomination. Just as McCain is there to insure her the presidency.
