I'm east indian, so of course I have a little of enmity towards Pakistan.

But when you see things like this you are happy to see progress, because for them to progress is a message to the world that even an islamic country can show that much respect to a woman and her message.

I'm not muslim and don't agree with their culture and beliefs, nonetheless you must acknowledge that the image that the media has put in your mind about muslim countries can be so wrong beyond belief and so far from the truth.

A country where the U.S. created havoc in, Pakistan, by financially supporting a would-be dictator that had less than 5% of electoral vote and that took over the country. Then a woman arises to stop the chaos that would give the U.S and excellent motive for invasion, is assassinated.

It's remarkable that in this very country which the U.S believes it must be "modernized"(or converted) ended up showing so much respect to a woman, a gender depicted as being lower in social status by the media.

This is a strong message and people must know of it and interpret it in this manner.

Don't only spread the knowledge, spread the wisdom!

PESHAWAR, Pakistan - Benazir Bhutto's widowed husband urged Pakistanis to help him "save" the country in a charged speech Saturday to about 100,000 supporters at the first major campaign rally held by the opposition leader's party since her assassination.

American troops sent to Iraq to spread democracy, it tooks military troops, weapons, expensive anti-ied vehicles, sadistic private contractors, to apparently spread democracy that is robbing your very country.

But in a similarly muslim country all it took was ONE WOMAN!

Really? where is the democracy that she created? You do realize that her regime was rather corrupt and inept? Nevertheless she would have been quite a bit better then Pakistan's current choices, military dictatorship or muslim wahabbi dictatorship. This will end badly unless there is a massive conversion to Jesus Christ.

It seems like british officials or the u.s government was behind the assassination. Seems like everybody who wants to infect truth is murdered in the middle eastern areas.

Whoever said democracy had to be successful? Look at Haiti, the second-oldest Democracy in the world. Foreign interference notwithstanding, the Haitians have busted their asses off to maintain that position, even though they keep ending up electing, well... jackasses of the highest order.

Regardless of results, democracy is happening.

That's not what I meant.

She fought for democracy and died, she wanted the state of emergency to end.

The people wanted the same, they want a fair political system, americans don't have to send missles and automatics to force them to want it, they already want it.

So just like it's a lie that they attack us for our freedom, it's also a lie that they must be modernized.

Does anyone here still think the U.S. are one of the good guys?
Talking about the govt. not the people.

Since I view the US as it's people and not it's government, I'd have to say yes US is one of the good guys. The private sector, especially the churches routinely give more to help the suffering worldwide than any other group. Unfortunately people still define countries by their hideous corrupt and even demonic leadership.

US dominates giving to various church aid groups. Although it is not as good as it could be. Yes it's true that the citizens are under a dictatorship, whose true motives are unrelated to any public benefit, yet by and large the humanitarian efforts of the US at the grassroots level is commendable by comparison.

It's still pathetic of course by Biblical standards and the giving of the poor third world churches, but it's something to note prior to pronouncing judgment.

Not as long as wahabi's are allowed to spread hate for the western
world and anything non islamic.

It's a well known fact that Saudi Arabian wahabis are preaching hate and jihad against the western world and democracy through quran schools (madrasa) in north Pakistan.

And that's where Usama Bin Laden is (if he's still alive)
