The Pink Panther is a Large rare 'Pink' Diamond that features in the Movies.
I have just looked it up and it was not Pink Entirely, allthough it looks pinkish in the films.
It was called the pink panther because inside the diamond was a peice of pinkish amber that looked like a panther.

ok the pink pather is one of two things. Either a cartoon character
home.inreach.com...
or it was the name of a diamond in the pink panther film starring peter sellers as inspecter Clouseau

Its the name of both, i dont know much about the cartoon charactor, but i would imagine the panther cartoon char, came from the one that featured in
the intro to the Pink Panther Films.

No offense people but I have seen the films, numerous of the cartoons and in general I am familiar with the series. But there is a deeper meaning to
the term 'pink panther' or is it just to sound good?

according to pinkpanther.com, in the film, the pinkpanther was a rare and valuable diamond that had a piece of pink amber in the middle that looked
like a leaping panther, hence the name.
