Which would you prefer?

It seems as though Republicans and Democrats both want big government, but they present it in two totally different ways. On the democratic side of things you have big government in the sense they want to increase welfare and socialize medicine, among other things. Republicans on the other hand want big government in the sense of more intelligence departments and more police, among other things. So the point of this thread is to debate the question- Would you rather live in a Democratic Socialist country or a Republican Police state? Might as well choose because one or the other is quickly approaching. Happy debating.
